Yes, Ajax has its own cameras and its own NVR, and they work in the same app as your alarm system. If a detector is triggered, a camera can immediately record footage of it, so you can see straight away whether it is genuine. Recording is done locally, on a memory card in the camera or on an Ajax NVR, without a subscription. In this article you can read which camera and which recorder suit your situation.
Why choose Ajax cameras
One app
You manage the alarm, cameras and recorder together in the free Ajax app.
Alarm with video
When an alarm is raised, the camera records what is happening, so you can check it straight away.
No subscription
Recording is done locally, on a microSD card in the camera or on an Ajax NVR.
Smart detection
The cameras recognise people, animals and vehicles, and so filter out many unnecessary notifications.
Which Ajax camera suits you?
The wired Ajax cameras come in three shapes: a BulletCam (elongated, wall-mounted), a TurretCam (dome-shaped on a base) and a DomeCam Mini (compact and unobtrusive). Each shape is available in three versions, and that is where the real difference lies: how the camera sees at night and whether you can adjust the lens. They receive power and network via a single cable (PoE).

Good to know: the prices are live from our webshop and apply per shape; the TurretCam and DomeCam Mini of the same version are in the same price range. If you want to be able to see at night what colour a jacket or car was, choose HL or HLVF.
There are also two wireless cameras: the IndoorCam for indoor use (wifi, 4 MP, with two-way audio) and the DoorBell, a video doorbell with intercom. These two store their footage on an Ajax NVR or Ajax Cloud, not on a memory card.
Which Ajax NVR do you need?
An NVR (network video recorder) records the footage from all your cameras centrally on a hard disk. The Ajax recorders are available with 8 or 16 channels: an NVR with 8 channels records up to eight cameras. The difference lies in the power supply, the storage and whether the recorder powers your cameras itself.

Please note: the hard drive is not included. Choose a drive designed for continuous day and night recording, such as the WD Purple. If there is no mains power where the recorder is located, there is the NVR DC on 9-16 V, and the NVR H2DAC gives you two drive slots without built-in PoE.
How camera and alarm work together
Video scenarios
You link a camera to one or more detectors. If a detector raises an alarm, the camera records what is happening at that moment, and you see the footage with the notification in the app.
Camera as detector
If the camera recognises a person or vehicle, it can start a response itself, such as setting off the sirens.
Playback and storage
You download clips of events from the archive, provided the camera or recorder has a memory card or hard drive.
The number of cameras and recorders you can connect to your alarm system depends on the hub: up to 10 on a Hub, up to 25 on a Hub 2 and up to 100 on a Hub 2 Plus.
Memory card or NVR?
If you have one or two cameras, a microSD card in the camera is often sufficient. An NVR is the better choice from three cameras onwards, if you want to review footage over a longer period, or if you do not want an intruder to be able to take the recordings by removing a camera from the wall. With a PoE recorder you also only need to run one cable per camera, directly to the recorder.
