Box cameras
The camera in its classic form
A box camera is a network camera in a rectangular housing, as you know it from shops, warehouses and entrance halls. You place it on a wall bracket indoors or fit it in a protective housing for outdoor use.
If you are looking for a camera that is already weatherproof and that you can mount outdoors straight away, see the bullet cameras or dome cameras.
What you will find here
Box cameras from Dahua
The box cameras here come from the WizMind range by Dahua, from 4 to 12 megapixels. They are powered via PoE over the network cable, have connections for alarm and audio and a slot for a memory card, and they are vandal-resistant to IK10. The exact specifications per model are on the product page and in the datasheet under the Downloads tab.
You usually choose a box camera when you want to mount it in a visible position, or when it is to be placed in its own housing. For this installation, there is a wall bracket for housing and box camera among the camera accessories.
Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions about box cameras
What is the difference between a box camera and a bullet camera?
A bullet camera has its own weatherproof housing with the lens inside and can be mounted outdoors as it is. A box camera is the camera body in a rectangular shape; outdoors, you place it in a separate housing.
Can I use a box camera outdoors?
Yes, in a protective housing that is suitable for outdoor use. Without a housing, a box camera is intended for indoor use.
Does a box camera work with my recorder?
They are network cameras, so they work with an NVR that supports the brand and the resolution. With a Dahua recorder of the same generation, you are well covered. If you are unsure, we will check it for you.
