Why an alarm receiving centre

Why an alarm receiving centre agreement?

An alarm that goes off is only worth as much as the follow-up behind it. An alarm receiving centre is reachable 24 hours a day and acts on your behalf, even when you cannot respond yourself.

24/7 follow-up

Every notification is received immediately by a trained team, day and night.

Verification and emergency services

In the event of a verified alarm, the alarm receiving centre dispatches the police or fire brigade immediately.

System monitoring

A daily test, plus a notification in the event of tampering, power failure and a flat battery.

Personal contact

Every call made by an operator. No automated voice system.

You are not alone

The alarm receiving centre alerts your keyholders so that someone checks the situation quickly.

Private and business

For homes and businesses, with tailored procedures.

How it works

How alarm response works, step by step

Many customers ask: you keep calling, so will the police always come? It does not quite work like that. This is what actually happens in the event of an alarm.

1

Notification received and verified

The alarm receiving centre assesses whether the alarm is verified: through an eyewitness, camera footage, listening in or several zones triggering at the same time.

2

Call procedure

The alarm receiving centre makes two call attempts along your warning list. If it reaches nobody with a valid code, a text message to all keyholders follows.

3

Emergency services

In the event of a verified alarm, the alarm receiving centre dispatches the police or fire brigade immediately. If the alarm is not verified and no keyholder can be reached, the alarm receiving centre usually may not send the police, unless there is a strong suspicion of burglary.

Do you want to be certain that the police will attend?

The alarm receiving centre may escalate a verified alarm immediately. Therefore arrange camera verification and provide at least three keyholders who can be on site within 15 minutes. This considerably increases the chance of a rapid police response.

Keyholders

Who alerts the alarm receiving centre? Your keyholders

What a keyholder has at their disposal

  • A key to the protected address
  • A code or password for the alarm receiving centre
  • A code or fob to operate the alarm system
  • The ability to be on site within 15 minutes

Specify at least three keyholders (a police requirement) and at most five.

Would you prefer a security service?

You can also register a security service as a keyholder. It then appears at the top of the call list. If you want the service to be called last or only at certain times, let the alarm receiving centre know.

Always monitored

The alarm receiving centre also monitors the health of your system

The alarm receiving centre monitors not only your premises, but also whether your alarm system itself keeps working properly.

Daily test signal

Your system reports in at least every 24 hours. If it does not, the alarm receiving centre investigates.

Tamper

If the system is tampered with, the alarm receiving centre receives a notification immediately.

Power and battery

In the event of a power failure or a nearly empty battery you receive a warning, so that the system works when it is needed.

Connection

If the connection to the alarm receiving centre is lost, the alarm receiving centre sees this and takes action.

Procedures

Alarm procedures by type of notification

These are the standard procedures of the alarm receiving centre. Personal contact comes first: every call is made by an operator, with no automated voice system involved. You are always free to agree different arrangements.

Intruder

In the case of a verified intruder alarm without disarming, the alarm receiving centre dispatches the police immediately and calls your warning list.

In the case of a verified burglar alarm with disarming and a non-verified burglar alarm, the alarm receiving centre calls your call list. If the alarm follows directly after a disarming, it makes one call attempt and closes the notification. If no keyholder can be reached, the alarm receiving centre is usually not permitted to pass a non-verified alarm on to the police, unless there is a strong suspicion that a break-in is actually taking place.

Robbery

In the event of a verified hold-up alarm, the alarm receiving centre immediately dispatches the police.

In the case of an unverified panic alarm, the alarm receiving centre first calls the duress number. If nobody answers within 30 seconds, or someone answers without a valid code or password, the alarm receiving centre contacts the police.

Fire

For a certified fire detection installation, the alarm receiving centre dispatches the fire brigade immediately, except for an automatic fire alarm during working hours. In that case it first calls your call list and dispatches the fire brigade after 3 minutes regardless.

In the case of a non-certified installation, the alarm receiving centre first calls your call list and, if necessary, consults the fire brigade, who decide whether to attend.

Call for help (panic or medical)

In the event of a panic call, the alarm receiving centre calls your call list. If it reaches no one, it consults the police, who decide whether to attend.

Tamper

In the event of a tamper alarm, the alarm receiving centre calls your call list. In combination with another priority alarm, such as burglary or fire, it counts as a verified alarm and the alarm receiving centre contacts the police or fire brigade directly.

Exit error

The alarm receiving centre calls your call list. If the area is then armed correctly after all, it stops the calls and does not disturb you unnecessarily.

Failed setting

The alarm receiving centre calls your warning list. If the area is still set correctly afterwards, it takes no further action.

Not yet set

If you have a switching schedule and the system is not yet armed at the agreed time, the alarm receiving centre calls your warning list. If the area arms correctly while the calls are being made, it stops calling.

Disarming outside the schedule

If the system is disarmed outside the agreed times, the alarm receiving centre calls your call list to check that everything is in order.

Disarming under duress

If the system is disarmed under duress, the alarm receiving centre follows the same procedure as for a hold-up alarm.

Fire alarm panel fault

In the event of a fault on the fire alarm control panel, the alarm receiving centre calls your call list.

Test signal not received

Your system sends a test message at least every 24 hours. If it does not arrive, the alarm receiving centre calls your warning list: immediately for business customers, between 09:00 and 22:00 for private customers. On the registration form you indicate whether you want to be notified immediately or only the next morning.

Component failure

If a component fails, the alarm receiving centre calls your warning list. If the failure is restored within 3 minutes, it takes no action.

Connection failure (DP3/DP4)

If both the primary and the backup connection fail, the alarm receiving centre takes action immediately. If only one connection fails, it takes action during the day only, because a second connection to the alarm receiving centre is then still intact.

Transmitter battery fault (battery almost empty)

If the battery of a component is nearly empty, the alarm receiving centre sends a text message to your keyholders during the day (09:00-22:00). Outside those hours it holds the notification until after 09:00.

System battery fault

In the event of a low system battery voltage, the alarm receiving centre takes action during the day; outside those times it holds the notification until after 09:00. In combination with a power failure, it takes action immediately.

220/230V-uitval

The alarm receiving centre always waits 15 minutes before acting on a power failure. During the day it then sends a text message to your keyholders. Outside those hours it holds the notification until after 09:00. In the event of a regional power outage, it waits for the restoration signal.

This is the complete overview of the standard procedures per type of notification. Would you like to adjust a procedure to your situation? That is possible, let the alarm receiving centre know.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

I read that the alarm receiving centre keeps calling, but what if nobody answers? Will the police then be dispatched?

The alarm receiving centre makes two call attempts along your call list. If it cannot reach anyone with a valid code, a text message is sent to all keyholders. The police are only dispatched by the alarm receiving centre in the case of a verified alarm. If a burglar alarm is not verified and no keyholder can be reached, the alarm receiving centre is usually not permitted to pass the notification on to the police, unless there is a strong suspicion that a break-in is actually taking place. This is a national agreement to prevent unnecessary police deployment. Do you want to maximise the chance of a direct police response? Arrange camera verification and register at least three keyholders.

When does the alarm receiving centre actually dispatch the police or fire brigade?

As soon as an alarm is verified. Verification can be done in four ways: an eyewitness (human observation), camera footage, listening in, or several zones going into alarm at the same time. In the case of a verified intruder or panic alarm, the notification goes directly to the police, and in the case of a verified fire alarm to the fire brigade.

Why is camera verification so important?

With cameras, the alarm receiving centre can watch live and verify an alarm directly. The alarm receiving centre may pass a verified alarm straight on to the police, whereas it usually may not do so with an unverified alarm. Camera verification therefore considerably increases the chance of a rapid police response.

What exactly are the benefits of an alarm receiving centre?

Your alarm is followed up 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by a trained team. In the event of a verified notification, the alarm receiving centre calls the emergency services and alerts your keyholders, so that you do not face an emergency alone. The alarm receiving centre also monitors the health of your system: the daily test signal, tampering, power failure and a nearly empty battery. Every call is made by an operator, with no automated voice system involved.

How many keyholders do I need to provide?

At least three, a police requirement, and at most five, or a security service. For the emergency services it is important that a keyholder can be at the address within 15 minutes.

What exactly is a keyholder?

A trusted person who has a key to the premises, a code or password for the alarm receiving centre and a code or fob to operate the alarm system. In the event of an alarm, the alarm receiving centre calls the keyholders so that they can check the situation and give the emergency services access.

Can I adapt the alarm procedures to my situation?

Yes. The procedures on this page are the standard of the alarm receiving centre, but you are free to agree different arrangements. Would you rather receive an email than a phone call for a particular technical alarm, or have certain notifications called through only at certain times? Let us know and it will be arranged.

What do I need to connect my Ajax system?

An Ajax hub with an active connection: ethernet, wifi or a SIM card. Complete the registration form at the bottom of this page and we will connect your system to the alarm receiving centre.

What happens in the event of a false alarm?

False alarms are part of the job. If you are present or have caused a false alarm yourself, please call the alarm receiving centre and identify yourself with your code, so that it does not take unnecessary action. Camera verification and well-configured procedures reduce the number of false notifications.

Will I be notified of a fault, a power failure or an almost empty battery?

Yes. Your system automatically reports power failure, low battery voltage, tampering and a missing daily test signal to the alarm receiving centre. Depending on the type of notification and the time, you receive a text message or a phone call about it.

Can I also use the alarm receiving centre as a Belgian customer?

Yes, but in Belgium the Dutch alarm receiving centre may only contact your keyholders and may not call out the emergency services.

How do I register?
