Decoders

Camera images on a screen or video wall

A decoder converts network streams from IP cameras into a video signal for a monitor or video wall. This lets you show live camera images on large screens without needing a computer.

To record images you need a recorder; a decoder is purely for display.

When needed

Where a decoder is useful

A decoder is intended for situations where you want to show many cameras on one or more large screens, for example an alarm receiving centre, reception or control post. The decoder takes the streams directly from the cameras or recorder and distributes them across the screens.

For a standard set-up with one or a few cameras, a decoder is not needed: you then view the images via the recorder, a monitor or the app. If you are unsure whether a decoder suits your situation, we will gladly help you decide.
