Ajax power supply module

Your Ajax hub on low voltage

With an Ajax power supply module, you power a hub, ReX or NVR from a DC source instead of the mains socket. Ideal for a boat, camper, off-grid installation or custom situation. If the mains power supply of your hub is faulty, there is the 220V PSU: the original mains power supply board as a replacement part. Official Ajax modules, so warranty and CE marking are retained.

What is an Ajax power supply module?

A power supply module (PSU) replaces the standard 110/230 V board in the housing of your Ajax hub, ReX or NVR with a low-voltage unit. The device then runs directly on a 6, 12 or 24 volt source, for example a battery or UPS, instead of on the mains. It is an official Ajax module and not a modification, so warranty and CE certification are retained.

When do I need one?

Anywhere that a stable 230 V supply is not available or where you want to use the system on the move:

  • a boat, camper or caravan
  • a building site or temporary site cabin
  • a technical room or low-voltage control panel
  • an off-grid or solar energy installation
  • premises with an unstable mains supply
Which module goes with which device?

The right module depends on your device and its generation:

What is the difference between 6V, 12V and 12-24V?

It concerns the input voltage that the module accepts. The 6V PSU works from 4.2 to 16 V, the 12V PSU from 8 to 20 V and the 12-24V PSU (type A) from 8 to 32 V. The latter therefore has the widest range and is the current module for the Hub 2 generation. The output to the device is matched to the hub for all modules.

What is the difference between the 220V PSU and the low-voltage modules?

The 220V PSU is the original mains power supply board (110-240 V~) that is fitted as standard in the hub or ReX, supplied separately as a replacement part in the event of a fault. The 6V, 12V and 12-24V modules do the opposite: they replace the mains power supply board with a low-voltage input for a battery or another DC source. If your hub was running on such a module and you want to go back to the mains socket, you refit the 220V PSU.

Can my hub keep running on a battery?

Yes. With a suitable battery as the source, the hub runs for years without a mains connection. The hub also keeps its own internal backup battery, which takes over if the external power supply fails as well. This keeps your security online in places without reliable mains power.

Will my NVR keep recording during a power cut?

With the 12V PSU for NVR and a battery or UPS as the source, the recorder keeps recording when the mains power fails. The jumper mode protects the battery by switching off automatically at around 10.35 V, so that it does not discharge too deeply.

Who may install the module?

The board is in place within a few minutes, but replacing the mains power supply should be carried out by a qualified electrician. Switch off the mains power before you begin and follow the Ajax manual for the module in question.
