Sirens & VAD

Sirens and VADs for the Ajax EN54 range

Audible and visual alarm signalling is the final element of a fire alarm installation: when an alert is raised, everyone in the building immediately knows that evacuation is required.

Within the Ajax EN54 range you can choose between a Sounder (acoustic siren up to 100 dB, compliant with EN 54-3), a VAD (visual alarm device with red LED flash, compliant with EN 54-23) or a Sounder/VAD that combines both. A VAD is essential in noisy spaces and for people who cannot hear a siren well. The satellite indicator visibly repeats the status of a detector that has been placed out of sight.

All alarm devices communicate wirelessly and securely via Jeweller and are controlled by the EN54 Fire Hub (CIE).

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a siren and a VAD?

A siren (Sounder) gives a loud acoustic alarm; a VAD (Visual Alarm Device) gives a visible alarm with a bright red flash. In noisy spaces or for people with impaired hearing, you supplement the siren with a VAD.

When should I choose a Sounder/VAD?

The Sounder/VAD combines audible and visual alarm signalling in one device, which is useful where you need both without placing two separate devices.

What does a satellite indicator do?

The satellite indicator repeats the alarm indication of a detector that is out of sight (above a suspended ceiling or in a technical room), so that you can quickly locate the source of an alert.

Do I need a Fire Hub?

Yes. All EN54 alarm devices are controlled by the Ajax EN54 Fire Hub and are not compatible with a standard Ajax Hub.
