What are M&C cylinders?
M&C cylinders are security cylinders for securing doors in homes and business premises. The cylinder is an important part of the door lock and partly determines how well a door resists manipulation and forced entry.
At Secures you will find M&C cylinders with SKG*** certification and certificate keys. This means that extra keys cannot simply be cut without the correct authorisation.
You can choose from several product lines and cylinder lengths. This allows the cylinder to be matched to the security hardware and the thickness of the door.
M&C Matrix or M&C Condor?
The M&C Matrix and M&C Condor both offer a high level of security. Which cylinder suits best depends on the desired model, the security level and the situation in which the lock is used.
M&C Matrix
SKG*** cylinders with certificate keys, a hardened steel bridge and an emergency and hazard function.
M&C Condor
A high-quality security cylinder for situations where extra strong burglary protection is required.
Security door furniture
Combine the cylinder with suitable security furniture for a fully secured door.
Why choose a security cylinder?
A standard cylinder can be a vulnerable part of an external door. Burglars can use various techniques to manipulate a cylinder, snap it off or remove it from the lock.
An SKG*** security cylinder is designed to offer greater resistance to serious burglary attempts. The cylinder must be fitted correctly and combined with suitable security hardware.
A good cylinder alone is therefore not sufficient. The door, multipoint lock, hinges and security furniture must together form a strong layer of security.
Certificate keys for more control
M&C security cylinders are supplied with certificate keys. To order additional keys, the associated certificate or another required authorisation is needed.
This gives you more control over who can have a key cut. This is important for homes, rented properties, offices and other locations where several people have access.
Keep the key certificate in a safe place. Without the correct details, it may be more difficult to order extra keys or cylinders within the same locking system later.
Order multiple cylinders keyed alike
With a keyed-alike set, several doors can be opened with the same key. Think of the front door, back door, shed door, garage or gate.
This means you do not need a separate key for each door. This makes everyday use simpler and reduces the number of keys on your key ring.
When ordering, state clearly which cylinders must be keyed alike. Also check which cylinder size is required for each door.
How do you measure a cylinder lock?
A profile cylinder is measured from the centre of the screw hole to both ends of the cylinder. This gives you two measurements, for example an inside and an outside measurement.
Always measure both sides separately. The door and the furniture are not always symmetrical. There may also be a knob on one side.
A cylinder must not protrude unnecessarily far beyond the security furniture on the outside. Therefore check the existing cylinder size and the thickness of the furniture carefully before you order.
What is an emergency and hazard function?
A cylinder with an emergency and hazard function can usually be operated from the other side when a key is already in the lock on one side.
This is useful when someone accidentally leaves a key in on the inside. Without this function, the outside key may not be usable in such a situation.
The M&C Matrix is offered with an emergency and hazard function. Check for each model which features apply.
Combine M&C with security furniture
A security cylinder works best in combination with sturdy security escutcheons. This hardware protects the cylinder and makes it harder to grip or force.
Check that the cylinder size matches the furniture. If the cylinder protrudes too far, it may create a point of attack for tools.
For complete security, the lock, the strike plates and the construction of the door and frame must also be in good condition.
Ordering M&C cylinders from Secures
At Secures you will find M&C Matrix and Condor cylinders in various sizes and versions. You can order single cylinders or several keyed-alike cylinders.
We help you choose the right product line, cylinder size and version. This prevents the cylinder from not fitting or not matching the existing hardware sufficiently.
Combine your M&C cylinders with suitable hinges and locking hardware for a complete security solution.
Frequently asked questions about M&C cylinders
What is the difference between M&C Matrix and Condor?
Both product lines offer strong security, but differ in design and features. The best choice depends on the required security level and use.
What does SKG*** mean?
SKG*** indicates that a product offers a high level of burglary resistance. The cylinder must be fitted correctly and combined with suitable security hardware.
Can I order several M&C cylinders with the same key?
Yes. You can have several cylinders keyed alike, so that you open different doors with one key.
How do I measure the correct cylinder size?
Measure from the centre of the fixing hole to both ends of the cylinder. Note down the inside and outside dimensions separately.
Can anyone have an M&C key cut?
Certificate keys require the necessary authorisation. This gives you more control over having extra keys cut.
Do I also need security escutcheons?
Security hardware is strongly recommended. It protects the cylinder and makes it harder to grip or force.
