- Instant price, including master key plan surcharge
What is a master key plan?
Everyone gets one key that opens exactly the doors they may enter. The master key opens everything. If a key is lost, you only replace the cylinders it fitted.
Price as charged by M&C
Each cylinder costs its retail price. For n cylinders, n + 1 keys are included in the price. The master key plan surcharge applies to cylinders and extra keys: 25% up to 15 cylinders, 15% up to 50, 10% up to 100 and 5% above that.
Extending is always possible
A Security Card comes with the master key plan. You use it later to reorder extra keys or cylinders in the same plan.
How to build your M&C master key system
In a master key system, everyone has one key that opens exactly the doors they may enter. Management opens everything, the cleaners only the corridors, a tenant only their own space. At Secures you build that system yourself and see the price straight away, based on the M&C price list. We convert it into the M&C entry matrix and place the order for you.
1. Choose a series
A master key system is possible with the M&C Condor, Matrix 3 or Matrix 2. Condor and Matrix 3 have three SKG stars, the Matrix 2 two.
2. Set the cylinder for each door
Each door gets its own line with outside and inside size, colour and operation, as in the cylinder configurator. Ten identical office doors? Set the quantity to ten.
3. Assign the keys
Make a key for each group of people and tick which doors it opens. The first key that opens everything becomes the grand master key (GHS), the rest HS1, HS2 and so on.
4. Price and ordering
You see the price of the whole system, including the M&C master key system surcharge. After your order, we prepare the entry matrix for M&C, and your order confirmation lists the whole system, door by door.
Which M&C series suits your master key system
M&C makes master key systems with the Condor, Matrix and Cobra. Here you choose from the Condor, Matrix 3 and Matrix 2. Minos, Color+ and Move are keyed-alike sets without a master key system; you build those in the M&C configurator.
M&C Condor, SKG***
Robust reversible key with raised profile against unauthorised copying, snake bar and side pins against lock picking, protected against core pulling and drilling. With 7.5 million key combinations, suitable for large master key systems.
M&C Matrix 3, SKG***
Cut key with a special undercut and a hardened steel shackle, protected against core pulling, drilling and lock picking. With three stars, also suitable for external doors without core-pull-protected door furniture.
M&C Matrix 2, SKG**
The same cut key with undercut, with two SKG stars. Suitable for internal doors, or for external doors with security door furniture that already protects the core.
How M&C prices a master key plan
Each cylinder costs its retail price from the M&C price list, just as in a standard set. For a system of n cylinders, n + 1 keys are included in the price; each key above that costs the price of an extra key in a master key system. The M&C master key system surcharge applies to cylinders and extra keys together.
| Number of cylinders in the system | Master key plan surcharge |
|---|---|
| 2 to 15 | 25% |
| 16 to 49 | 15% |
| 50 to 99 | 10% |
| 100 to 499 | 5% |
A plan of 500 cylinders or more, or an extra level in an existing master key plan, is quoted on request.
Everything about your M&C master key system
Grand master key and groups
The grand master key (GHS) opens all doors. Below it you make as many keys as you need, each with the doors that belong to that group. A key can open one door or twenty; you decide in the matrix.
How to measure your cylinders
For each door you need two measurements: outside, on the corridor or street side, and inside. Measure both from the centre of the cylinder screw to the flat side of the door furniture and note them as outside / inside, for example 32 / 37. Click How do I measure? at the doors for instructions.
Security Card and expansion
An M&C Security Card comes with the master key system. With it, you can later reorder extra keys or cylinders for the same system via reorder keys and cylinders. An extra level in an existing system is available on request.
Delivery time, returns and warranty
M&C makes every master key system to order; after your order we will let you know when it is ready. Because it is made to order, a master key system is excluded from the right of withdrawal. M&C cylinders come with a 5-year warranty.
A quick answer to your question
What is a master key plan?
A master key system defines which key opens which door. M&C puts it this way itself: a master key system defines which keys have access to which rooms. Everyone then has one key for exactly the doors they may enter, and the grand master key opens everything. Useful for offices, schools, associations, apartment complexes and business premises.
What is the difference between a master key system and a keyed-alike set?
In a keyed-alike set, all keys open all cylinders. In a master key system, each key has its own doors. If you want one key at home for the front door, back door and shed, a keyed-alike set is enough.
What is a GMK?
The grand master key: one key that opens all doors in the system. In the configurator, the first key that opens all doors is automatically given the code GHS; the other keys are called HS1, HS2 and so on, as in the M&C entry matrix.
How many keys do I get with a master key system?
For a system of n cylinders, n + 1 keys are included in the price: so eleven keys for ten cylinders. You distribute them yourself among the key holders. If you distribute more, you pay for the extra keys plus the master key system surcharge.
What does an M&C master key system cost?
Each cylinder costs its retail price from the M&C price list, plus a master key system surcharge of 25% for 2 to 15 cylinders, 15% for 16 to 49, 10% for 50 to 99 and 5% for 100 to 499 cylinders. Extra keys above n + 1 count towards this. The configurator calculates it for you as you build the system.
Which M&C series are suitable for a master key system?
M&C makes master key systems with the Matrix, Cobra and Condor. Here you build a master key system with the Condor, Matrix 3 or Matrix 2. Minos, Color+ and Move are keyed-alike sets without a master key system.
Can I choose a different size, colour or knob for each door?
Yes. Each door has its own line with outside and inside size, colour and operation: key, thumb turn or a knob part for your smart lock. A half cylinder, surface-mounted lock or padlock is also possible.
What do I do if a key is lost?
In a master key system, a key opens only its own doors. If one is lost, it concerns the cylinders that key fits. With your Security Card, you can reorder those cylinders and new keys; contact us and we will look at what is needed.
Can I expand the master key system later?
Yes. With the M&C Security Card, you can reorder extra keys or cylinders for the same system via reorder keys and cylinders. An extra level in an existing system is available on request.
Can I return a master key plan?
No. M&C makes every master key system to order, with your sizes and key allocation, and it is therefore excluded from the right of withdrawal. Check the doors, sizes and keys carefully before you order, or call us: we are happy to help.
