How do I control an Ajax system?
You arm and disarm your system with the free Ajax app and, if you prefer, with a physical control device: a KeyPad (numeric code), a contactless Tag or Pass, a SpaceControl remote control or a separate button for emergencies and scenarios. You can combine them as you wish; each member of the household can use their own method.
Which KeyPad should I choose?
The KeyPads differ in operation and location:
- KeyPad: control with a numeric code, for indoor use.
- KeyPad Plus: code plus contactless with Tag or Pass.
- KeyPad TouchScreen: touchscreen with status display and contactless control.
- KeyPad Outdoor: weatherproof version for the front door or outdoors.
What is the difference between a Tag and a Pass?
Both are contactless control devices using the same secure DESFire protocol; you hold them up to the KeyPad to arm or disarm. A Tag is a key fob, a Pass is the size of a card. The Metal Tag uses the same protocol with a more luxurious, metal look. Tags and Passes only work on the contactless KeyPads (Plus, TouchScreen and Outdoor).
What is the SpaceControl?
The SpaceControl is a compact remote control (key fob) with which you arm and disarm the system and have a panic button at hand, with a range of up to 1,300 metres in open space. The SpaceControl with laser engraving is the same remote control, personalised with an engraving.
Button or DoubleButton?
The Button is a wireless button with a single function: a panic button, or starting a scenario (for example lighting or arming/disarming). The DoubleButton has two buttons and requires a double press for a panic alert, which helps prevent false alarms.
Do Tag and Pass work on every KeyPad?
No. Contactless control with a Tag or Pass works on the KeyPad Plus, KeyPad TouchScreen and KeyPad Outdoor. The standard KeyPad works with a numeric code only.
Which control suits me?
In short:
- One fixed code for the whole family: a KeyPad.
- Quick contactless arming and disarming: a Tag or Pass with a KeyPad Plus.
- Control from a distance: the SpaceControl.
- Emergency button or scenario: the Button or DoubleButton.
Do I need a Hub?
Yes. Every control device works within an Ajax system, so you need an Ajax Hub. The app itself is free and works without a subscription.
