Hub or complete kit: where do you start?
The hub is the heart of every AirShield alarm system. It monitors all your wireless detectors, sends notifications to the Dahua DMSS app and maintains the connection with an alarm receiving centre, if you use one. Everything else you add, from motion detectors to sirens and cameras, communicates with this hub.
You have two ways to start. Choose a standalone hub if you want to build a system yourself, step by step. Or choose a complete starter kit: it includes a magnetic contact, a motion detector and a keyfob, so you have a working alarm within an hour.
Three steps to the right set
1. 4G or not?
Every hub works via Wi-Fi and a network cable. A 4G model also has a mobile back-up: if your internet goes down, your notifications keep coming in. Recommended if your security must not fail.
2. Standalone hub or kit?
If you want to be able to start straight away, choose a kit that includes detectors. If you already have a plan or specific requirements, choose a standalone hub and build a set around it yourself.
3. Add video verification?
Every hub works with video verification: PIR-Cam detectors take photos when an alarm is triggered and you can pair up to 8 Dahua IP cameras. If you want the PIR-Cam included straight away, choose the kit with PIR-Cam.
Frequently asked questions about AirShield
What exactly is an AirShield hub?
The hub is the control panel of your alarm system. All wireless detectors and sirens report to the hub, which in turn sends notifications to your phone (the DMSS app) and, if required, to an alarm receiving centre. Without a hub, the standalone detectors do not work.
What is the difference between the Hub 2 and the 4G Hub 2?
Both hubs are identical in terms of security and features. The difference is the connection: the 4G Hub 2 has a mobile back-up via 4G, so the system keeps working if your internet fails. The standard Hub 2 works via Wi-Fi and a network cable.
Does a standalone hub come without any detectors?
That is correct, a standalone hub is only the control panel. If you want to secure your property straight away, choose a starter kit that includes detectors, or put together a custom set using our configurator.
What is included in an AirShield starter kit?
A kit contains the hub, a wireless magnetic contact for a door or window, a motion detector and a key fob for arming and disarming. In the PIR-Cam kit, the motion detector is a variant with a camera that takes photos when an alarm is triggered.
Does AirShield work without a subscription?
Yes. You operate and manage everything free of charge in the Dahua DMSS app, with no mandatory subscription. If you want 24-hour follow-up by an alarm receiving centre, you take out a separate service for that.
Can I expand the system later?
Yes. Each AirShield hub pairs with up to 150 wireless devices. You can easily add extra detectors, sirens, keypads or cameras later as your requirements grow.
