M2M SIM card for your AirShield Hub
Keep your AirShield alarm system online at all times. If your fixed internet connection fails, an AirShield hub with 4G switches automatically to the mobile network, so that notifications and control continue to work.
Our M2M SIM card is designed specifically for machine-to-machine traffic and runs on a network that is also used by government services. The card automatically selects the best available provider in each country. You insert it into an AirShield Hub with a SIM slot (the 4G models).
Why our M2M SIM card
Always connected
Mobile back-up for your Hub as soon as the fixed internet connection fails.
Roaming across Europe
Automatically selects the best available provider per country.
Generous fair use
With normal use of an alarm system, you will not use up the data in practice.
Optional with Voice
With the Data + Voice variant, the Hub can also call you in the event of an alarm.
Built for M2M
Reliable network for machine-to-machine traffic, also used by government services.
Reusable
Do you ever replace your Hub? You can simply take the card with you to another Hub.
Data and notifications
The SIM card is a roaming card with fair use. You receive notifications free of charge via push messages in the Dahua DMSS app.
SMS is not included. To prevent unnecessary costs, the card is blocked as soon as an SMS is sent. Use the free push notifications instead.
Why not a prepaid SIM card?
Online you often read that prepaid is cheaper. In practice, this turns out differently.
Daily usage
An alarm hub sometimes uses between 100 and 150 MB per month: even on wifi or cable, it continuously checks whether it can switch to mobile. With prepaid, your credit therefore decreases daily.
Not made for M2M
Prepaid consumer cards are often blocked for this use and lack automatic provider switching. Your data bundle may be just enough, while your system needs the connection to work.

Frequently asked questions
Which AirShield Hub is this SIM card for?
For AirShield Hubs with a SIM slot, which are the 4G models (such as the AirShield 4G Hub 2). These use the SIM card as a mobile back-up in case your fixed internet fails.
Does the Hub also work without a SIM card?
Yes. As long as the Hub is connected to a fixed internet connection or via Wi-Fi, you can operate the system with the app and receive notifications. The SIM card is the mobile back-up on top of that.
Does my alarm system still work if the internet goes down and I have no SIM card?
The system still detects a break-in and the siren is activated. However, you and the alarm receiving centre will not receive a notification, and you cannot operate the system via the app. In that case, a Keypad or key fob is essential for operating the system.
Can I use a prepaid SIM card?
In principle this is possible: the PIN protection must be switched off and there must be an active data bundle. Do check the provider's terms to see whether the card may be used for anything other than telephone traffic; this is often not permitted.
Is prepaid not cheaper, given that the Hub only uses the SIM as a back-up?
No. The Hub checks several times a day whether data can be sent via the SIM. The provider sees this as network traffic and uses up your prepaid credit daily.
Can the M2M SIM card call me in the event of an alarm?
Yes, with the Data + Voice variant for 1 euro per month extra, the Hub can call you in the event of an alarm.
Can the M2M SIM card send me an SMS?
SMS is not free (0,15 euros per message) and is not included. To avoid unnecessary costs, the card is blocked as soon as an SMS is sent. Use the free push notifications in the app instead.
Am I tied to the subscription and what is the notice period?
The subscription is invoiced annually in advance and can be cancelled monthly after the first year.
Which networks does the SIM card support?
The SIM card supports 2G, 3G and 4G. Whether 2G is still supported depends on the providers in the country, and whether there is a usable signal depends on your location.
Countries and providers
The SIM card works via roaming throughout Europe and automatically selects the best available provider in each country.
