Outdoor detection warns you as soon as there is movement on your driveway, in the garden or around the building, so often before a door or window is reached. The AirShield outdoor detectors combine PIR with microwave radar to prevent false alarms, are weatherproof (IP66) and work wirelessly on 868 MHz with two-way communication and AES128. You receive a notification straight away in the free DMSS app, and with a camera even with images.
Which outdoor detection do you need?
Outdoor PIR
The wireless outdoor motion detector with PIR and microwave radar, up to 15 m. Weatherproof and reliable, and can be expanded with a camera later. The basis for outdoor detection.
Outdoor PIR-Cam
The same outdoor detector, but with a built-in camera. It takes photos in the event of an alarm and also provides images on request, even in the dark. For those who want image verification straight away.
PIR-Cam Module
A separate camera module that clicks onto an Outdoor PIR. Ideal for adding camera images to an outdoor detector you already have.
Outdoor Curtain PIR
A curtain detector with a narrow 8-degree beam up to 12 m. It covers a line along the façade or a window section instead of the whole garden.
Frequently asked questions about AirShield outdoor detection
Do the outdoor detectors work wirelessly?
Yes. They run on a battery and communicate wirelessly with the AirShield hub on 868 MHz, with two-way communication and AES128 encryption. You do not need to run any cables.
Are they resistant to weather and wind?
Yes. The outdoor detectors have an IP66 housing (dust-tight and waterproof) and operate from -25 to +60 degrees, so they withstand rain, cold and heat.
Do they react to my pet?
Pet immunity helps limit false alarms caused by animals (up to approximately 40 kg and 80 cm in height), but it is not a guarantee. Whether it works depends on weight, size, behaviour and above all the mounting height and position. Mount at approximately 0.8 to 1.3 m; large or jumping animals may still trigger a notification.
What is the difference between the Outdoor PIR, PIR-Cam and the Module?
The Outdoor PIR detects movement without images. The Outdoor PIR-Cam has a built-in camera for photos in the event of an alarm. The PIR-Cam Module is a separate camera that clicks onto an existing Outdoor PIR to add images to it. The Outdoor Curtain PIR is a curtain detector: it does not cover an open area but a narrow strip of 8 degrees up to 12 m along a façade or window section.
How high should I mount an outdoor detector?
The recommended mounting height is approximately 0.8 to 1.3 m, lower than an indoor detector, so that the detector covers an area such as a driveway or garden path well.
Do I need a Hub?
Yes. The outdoor detectors report to the wireless Dahua AirShield hub, which forwards the notifications to your phone. No system yet? Put one together with the configurator or have our installers fit it.
