Yes, an Ajax alarm system works entirely without a subscription. You operate and manage everything in the free Ajax app, and push notifications in the event of an alarm are also free. Two things optionally cost extra: an M2M SIM card for mobile back-up and an alarm receiving centre subscription for professional response. Both are choices, not obligations. Below you can read exactly what is free and what may be added.

You can view photos from MotionCam detectors in the event of an alarm for free in the app (Hub 2 and higher).

SIM card for mobile back-up
Your Ajax hub runs on your fixed internet connection (network cable or Wi-Fi). If you want the system to keep working when that internet connection fails, you add a SIM card for mobile back-up. This is the only recurring cost, and only if you want that back-up. You have two options.

Please note prices are indicative. Without mobile back-up, your system simply works via the internet; a SIM card is then not needed.
Alarm receiving centre for 24/7 response
By default, alarm notifications reach you in the app. If you want a professional alarm receiving centre to monitor your system day and night and take action, you take out a separate alarm receiving centre subscription (ARC) for that. This is also optional. If you bought your system from Secures, you get the first 6 months free with an annual subscription.
Do you need these extras?
For many homes, free use with push notifications is sufficient. Choose an M2M SIM card if your security must not fail during an internet outage. Choose an alarm receiving centre if you want someone to always respond, even when you cannot react yourself. If you are unsure, we are happy to advise you.
