Ajax Curtain Outdoor: narrow outdoor detection with dual technology
A wireless outdoor curtain detector that monitors a thin strip along your façade. Thanks to two infrared sensors and a microwave sensor, the chance of a false alarm is very small, even in wind, rain or moving vegetation.
The Curtain Outdoor creates a narrow, vertical beam of 8° that falls exactly along a wall, window or shop window. Two PIR sensors and a K-band microwave sensor together confirm whether it is a person. This way you detect an intruder at the façade, before anyone is inside. The included cover and corner bracket make outdoor installation straightforward.

Installed outdoors in a few minutes
Mount the detector with the supplied SmartBracket at a height of about 2.4 metres, so that the narrow beam runs along the façade or the window. With the supplied angle bracket you can aim it precisely. Use the supplied screws and wall plugs for a fixed mounting and fit the cover against rain and snow. Do you want to ignore pets? Then mount the detector at a height of 1 metre and set the slider to the Pet position. The batteries are already inserted, so you pair the Curtain Outdoor with your hub in one click via the Ajax app.
Preventing false alarms outdoors
An outdoor detector responds to any movement in its detection zone. Swaying branches and shrubs, washing on the line or a garden furniture cover that billows and flaps in wind and sun can therefore trigger an alert. The dual technology already limits this considerably; keep the number of unwanted alarms low with these points:
Not freely accessible
Aim the detector at a part of your premises that is not freely accessible to third parties, and not at the pavement, the street or the neighbours.
Keep the zone clear
Keep the detection zone free of moving vegetation, hanging laundry and loose objects such as covers and flags.
Correct mounting height
Keep to the recommended mounting height (2.4 m, or 1 m in Pet mode) and set the sensitivity accordingly.

Frequently asked questions about the Curtain Outdoor
What is the difference from the DualCurtain Outdoor?
The Curtain Outdoor creates a single narrow beam and uses a microwave sensor alongside two PIR sensors to prevent false alarms. The DualCurtain Outdoor creates two beams, to the left and right, which is ideal from a corner.
Does it trigger false alarms because of wind or rain?
Hardly at all. The combination of two PIR sensors and a microwave sensor together confirms whether it is a person, so wind, rain and moving vegetation are ignored.
Will it respond to my pet?
You can prevent that. Mount the detector at a height of 1 metre and set the slider to the Pet position, and it will ignore animals up to 1 metre high.
Do I need a subscription?
No. The Curtain Outdoor works with your Ajax hub without a mandatory subscription. Notifications arrive free of charge in the Ajax app.
How long do the batteries last?
Up to three years on the two pre-installed CR123A batteries. The Ajax app warns you well in advance when replacement is needed.
