The MotionProtect is a wireless PIR motion detector that measures changes in infrared radiation. The SmartDetect algorithm distinguishes the heat of a person from that of a pet, so you receive fewer false alarms. It covers a room of up to 12 metres and communicates with your Ajax hub via the encrypted Jeweller protocol, up to 1700 metres in open space.

Install it yourself in a few minutes
Mount the detector with the supplied SmartBracket at a height of approximately 2,4 metres, with the lens facing the direction an intruder would walk in. Use the supplied screws and wall plugs for a secure fixing. Do not place it directly opposite a window or just above a radiator, so that rapid temperature changes do not interfere with detection. The battery is already installed, so you pair the MotionProtect to your Hub in one click via the Ajax app and then set the sensitivity to one of three levels. For outdoor use, choose the MotionProtect Outdoor.

Do I need a subscription?
No. The MotionProtect works with your Ajax hub without a mandatory subscription. Notifications arrive free of charge in the Ajax app.
Which hub do I need?
Every Ajax hub with Jeweller works with the MotionProtect. Do you not have a system yet? View the Ajax StarterKit or put together a set yourself.
Will it trigger on my dog or cat?
No, provided it is positioned correctly. The MotionProtect ignores animals up to 20 kg and 50 cm in height. Mount the detector at a height of 2,4 metres and do not point the lens at furniture your pet can climb on. Pet immunity only works with the correct mounting height, angle and sensitivity, and a large or climbing dog or cat can still trigger an alert. Read Ajax's explanation of pet immunity.
What is the difference from the MotionProtect Plus?
In addition to the infrared sensor, the MotionProtect Plus also has a microwave sensor. This combination prevents false alarms even better in rooms with sunlight, draughts or a radiator. The standard MotionProtect works with infrared only and is the right choice for most rooms.
What is the difference from the MotionProtect Curtain?
The MotionProtect Curtain secures only a narrow strip, for example along a window or facade. The standard MotionProtect, by contrast, covers an entire room up to 12 metres wide.
How long does the battery last?
Up to five years on the pre-installed CR123A battery. The Ajax app gives ample warning when it needs replacing.
