Ajax MotionCam PhOD: photos on alarm and on request
A pet-friendly indoor motion detector with a built-in camera. In addition to a series of photos on every alarm, Photo on Demand (PhOD) offers more: you or the alarm receiving centre request a photo at any time, have a photo taken as soon as another device raises an alarm (for example a smoke detector, leak detector or panic button), and set up photos on a schedule.
The MotionCam PhOD combines a passive infrared sensor with a camera. The photos travel to your hub over the separate, encrypted Wings channel. The camera captures an image on an alarm and, with PhOD, also on request, with privacy settings that you determine yourself. Please note: the MotionCam PhOD is meant for a Hub 2 or Hub 2 Plus. It cannot be paired with the first Ajax Hub or the Hub Plus, not even without photos. Available in white and black.

When motion is detected, the camera takes a series of photos. With Photo on Demand you can also request an image yourself at any time.
Install it yourself in a few minutes
Mount the detector with the supplied SmartBracket at a height of approximately 2.4 metres, with the lens facing the direction in which an intruder would walk. Use the supplied screws and wall plugs for a secure fixing. The batteries are already installed, so you pair the MotionCam PhOD with your hub in one click via the Ajax app and then set the sensitivity and the photo settings. Make sure you have a Hub 2 or Hub 2 Plus: these have the Wings channel that this detector requires. It cannot be paired with the first Ajax Hub or the Hub Plus. For outdoor use, choose the MotionCam Outdoor PhOD.

Both detectors are identical, apart from the photo verification. The PhOD version takes photos not only on its own alarm, but also on request, according to a scenario (when another device such as a smoke detector, leak detector or panic button is triggered) and according to a schedule.

Frequently asked questions about the MotionCam PhOD
What is Photo on Demand (PhOD)?
With the PhOD version you get extended photo verification. You or the alarm receiving centre request a photo at any time, even without an alarm. The camera also takes a photo according to a scenario, for example when a nearby smoke detector, leak detector or panic button is triggered, and you can have photos taken on a schedule. With privacy settings you determine who is allowed to do what.
Which hub do I need for the photos?
A Hub 2 or Hub 2 Plus. The MotionCam PhOD sends its photos over the Wings channel and therefore needs a hub that has that channel. The detector cannot be paired with the first Ajax Hub or the Hub Plus, not even as an ordinary motion detector without photos.
Does the camera record continuously?
No. The camera only captures images on an alarm or when someone with the right permissions requests a photo via PhOD. All images are sent and stored encrypted.
Will it trigger on my dog or cat?
No, provided it is positioned correctly. The MotionCam PhOD ignores animals up to 20 kg and 50 cm in height. Mount the detector at a height of 2.4 metres and do not point the lens towards furniture your pet can climb onto. Pet immunity only works with the correct mounting height, angle and sensitivity, and a large or climbing dog or cat may still trigger an alert. Read Ajax's explanation of pet immunity.
How long do the batteries last?
Up to four years on the two pre-installed CR123A batteries. The Ajax app warns you well in advance when replacement is needed.
