AirShield PIR-Cam motion detector with camera

Video verification: how to see immediately whether an alarm is genuine

Video verification

Video verification means you have footage as soon as an alarm is triggered. With Dahua AirShield, PIR-Cam detectors take photos immediately when triggered, and linked Dahua cameras show a live view in the free DMSS app. Within a few seconds you see whether it is a false alarm or a genuine one, without having to go and look yourself first. In this article you can read how video verification works, which AirShield detectors take photos and what it delivers with an alarm receiving centre connection.

In brief

Alarm with footage

Photo on alarm

PIR-Cam detectors take photos immediately when triggered and send them to the app.

Live view from cameras

If a detector is triggered, the system immediately retrieves the image from the linked Dahua camera.

Also in the dark

The PIR-Cams have infrared night vision, so the photo is usable at night as well.

Free app

Everything arrives in the DMSS app, with no mandatory subscription.

What it is

What exactly is video verification?

A conventional alarm tells you that something is happening, but not what. Video verification adds images to this: with every alert you receive photos from the detector that was triggered, and where a camera is installed, live images as well. In this way you assess an alert on facts rather than on gut feeling. Was it the cat, a curtain blowing in the wind, or someone who should not be there? This saves unnecessary trips home, needless call-outs and above all uncertainty.

Speed

How quickly do you get footage?

In addition to the 868 MHz band for alarm communication, AirShield uses a fast RF-HD connection on 2.4 GHz for image transmission. When movement is detected, a PIR-Cam immediately takes photos, which arrive wirelessly at the hub and in the DMSS app. Within a few seconds you have an image to assess the alert, even if the detector is mounted far from the hub.

With cameras

Cameras complete the system

AirShield is deeply integrated with Dahua cameras and video intercoms. When a detector is triggered, you see the live or recorded footage from the linked camera in DMSS straight away. Conversely, a camera with WizSense AI (person and vehicle recognition) can trigger the alarm itself, for example when a person is in a zone. Because everything comes from one Dahua ecosystem, you manage alarm and footage together in one app.

Alarm receiving centre

What do you gain with an alarm receiving centre connection?

If you connect your AirShield to an alarm receiving centre, video verification helps to assess an alert correctly and to follow it up in a targeted way. A verified alarm, with footage in which something is actually visible, carries more weight than a bare alert and prevents unnecessary call-outs. For homes, and certainly for business premises, this is a major step up in the quality of the response.

Frequently asked questions

Video verification with AirShield

What is video verification?
When an alert is triggered you get footage straight away: PIR-Cam detectors take photos and linked IP cameras show a live view in the app. This lets you see immediately whether it is a false alarm or a genuine one.
Does a PIR-Cam film continuously?
No. A PIR-Cam is a motion detector with a photo camera, not a surveillance camera. It takes photos when an alarm is triggered and when you request one yourself. If you want continuous footage, you connect a Dahua camera to the system.
Does video verification also work in the dark?
Yes. The PIR-Cam detectors have infrared night vision, so the photos are also usable at night.
Do I need a subscription for it?
No. Photos and live view arrive in the free DMSS app. You only take out a separate service for 24-hour follow-up by an alarm receiving centre.
Can I extend an existing Outdoor PIR with a camera?
Yes. You clip the PIR-Cam Module onto the AirShield Outdoor PIR, after which that detector takes photos of up to 1280 x 960 when an alarm is triggered, also in the dark.
