Ajax MotionCam Outdoor PhOD: photos on alarm and on request
A wireless outdoor detector with camera that does more than take photos on its own alarm. With Photo on Demand (PhOD) you or the alarm receiving centre can request a photo at any moment, have a photo taken as soon as another device raises an alarm (for example a smoke detector, leak detector or panic button) and set up photos on a schedule.
The MotionCam Outdoor PhOD combines two PIR sensors with a camera. You set the range with a slider from 3 to 15 metres, and the photos are sent to your hub via the separate, encrypted Wings channel. In addition to a photo on alarm, PhOD also lets you request a photo manually, with privacy settings that you determine yourself. Please note: photo verification works with a Hub 2 or Hub 2 Plus.

Installed outdoors in a few minutes
Mount the detector with the supplied SmartBracket at a height of 80 to 130 cm, for example on the façade next to a window or door. Use the supplied screws and wall plugs for a secure fixing. Set the range with the slider on the housing, from 3 to 15 metres, so that you cover exactly your own grounds. The supplied weather shield keeps rain off the lens. The batteries are already installed, so you pair the MotionCam Outdoor PhOD with your hub in one click via the Ajax app. Make sure you have a Hub 2 or Hub 2 Plus, because only those process the photos.
Preventing false alarms outdoors
An outdoor detector responds to any movement in its detection zone. Swaying branches and shrubs, washing on the line or a garden furniture cover that billows and flaps in wind and sun can therefore trigger a notification. This is how you keep the number of unwanted alarms low:
Not freely accessible
Aim the detector at a part of your premises that is not freely accessible to third parties, and not at the pavement, the street or the neighbours.
Keep the zone clear
Keep the detection zone free of moving vegetation, hanging laundry and loose objects such as covers and flags.
Correct mounting height
Keep to the recommended mounting height (80 to 130 cm) and set the range and sensitivity appropriately.

What is Photo on Demand (PhOD)?
With the PhOD version you get extended photo verification. You or the alarm receiving centre request a photo at any time, even without an alarm. The camera also takes a photo according to a scenario, for example when a nearby smoke detector, leak detector or panic button is triggered, and you can have photos taken on a schedule. With privacy settings you determine who is allowed to do what.
Which hub do I need for the photos?
Photo verification works with a Hub 2 or Hub 2 Plus. On older hubs the detector still works as a standard outdoor detector, but you will not receive photos.
Does it give false alarms because of animals or branches?
Hardly at all. Two PIR sensors and the SmartDetect algorithm ignore animals up to 80 cm tall and moving branches. If in doubt, the photo gives you an answer straight away.
Do the photos also work in the dark?
Yes. The detector has built-in infrared illumination, so you also get usable photos at night.
How long do the batteries last?
Up to three years on the four pre-installed CR123A batteries. The Ajax app warns you well in advance when replacement is needed.
