uartBridge: Ajax detectors in another system
Add wireless Ajax detectors to a third-party security or smart home system via the digital UART interface.
The uartBridge works the other way round from a hub: it receives the signals from your wireless Ajax detectors and relays them to a third-party system via a digital UART data bus. This lets you build Ajax detectors into an existing panel, an OEM solution or a home automation system, with the status of each device: alarms, battery level and state.
The module receives up to 85 Ajax devices via the secure Jeweller protocol (two-way, up to 2.000 metres in open space) and is powered by 5 V DC. An Ajax hub is not needed: the uartBridge is the receiver itself. The receiving system must support UART readout.
What the uartBridge offers
Digital UART connection
Relays Ajax detectors to a system or smart home that reads out the UART bus.
Two-way Jeweller
Wireless, encrypted connection to the detectors up to 2,000 m in open space.
Up to 85 Ajax devices
Receives the wireless Ajax Jeweller detectors of your installation.
Status per device
Relays the alarm, tamper, battery level and state for each detector.
Compact, 5 V DC
Small size (64 x 55 x 13 mm), powered by 5 V direct current.

How to integrate Ajax into another system
The uartBridge connects to the receiving system via the UART interface. Enrol your Ajax detectors with the module and the system reads out the status of each device: alarm, tamper, battery level and connection. This lets you use Ajax detectors within an OEM panel, a custom solution or a smart home environment.
The receiving system must support the UART protocol. The communication protocol is in the documentation below. If you would rather have separate contact outputs per zone, take a look at the ocBridge Plus.

Third-party system
For security or smart home systems that support UART readout.
uartBridge or ocBridge Plus?
Both connect wireless Ajax detectors to a third-party system. Choose based on how the receiving system reads in the detectors.
| Feature | uartBridge | ocBridge Plus |
|---|---|---|
| Pairing | UART (digital data bus) | OC outputs (one contact per zone) |
| Output | status per device via protocol | 8 security zones + 4 service zones |
| Max. Ajax devices | 85 | 99 |
| Works with | system/smart home that reads UART | any wired panel with zone inputs |
| Power supply | 5 V DC | 8-14 V DC (USB for setup only) |
| Radio range (open space) | up to 2,000 m | up to 2,000 m |
| Dimensions | 64 x 55 x 13 mm | 95 x 92 x 18 mm |

The uartBridge passes on the status per device via a digital UART bus, for systems that read that protocol. The ocBridge Plus provides separate contact outputs (zones) that suit almost any wired panel.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an Ajax Hub?
No. The uartBridge is the receiver itself: it picks up the signals from your Ajax detectors and passes them on to another system. You therefore need Ajax detectors and a receiving system, not an Ajax hub.
Which system can read out the uartBridge?
Any security, OEM or smart home system that supports the UART protocol. You can find the communication protocol in the documentation below. If you would rather have separate contact outputs per zone, take a look at the ocBridge Plus.
How many Ajax devices can I connect?
Up to 85. The module supports the wireless Ajax Jeweller detectors such as MotionProtect, DoorProtect, GlassProtect, FireProtect, LeaksProtect, CombiProtect and SpaceControl.
What is the difference from the ocBridge Plus?
Both connect Ajax detectors to a third-party system. The uartBridge uses a digital UART data bus and reports the status of each device. The ocBridge Plus uses separate OC outputs (zones) that fit the contact inputs of almost any wired panel.
