Ajax BellKit: the DoorBell on your existing wired bell
With the BellKit you connect the Ajax DoorBell to an existing wired doorbell, so your familiar chime keeps sounding when someone rings.
The BellKit is included in the box of the Ajax DoorBell as standard. You therefore do not need it separately if you buy a DoorBell. This separate kit is intended as a spare or replacement: lost during renovation work, or needed for a second installation.
What the BellKit does
Your existing chime keeps working
Via the BellKit, the DoorBell controls your wired bell, in addition to the notification and the call in the Ajax app.
Already included with the DoorBell
Ajax supplies the BellKit with the complete DoorBell set. Only order it as an extra or a replacement.
Mechanical or digital
In the Ajax app, you choose the bell type under Bell settings, mechanical or digital. You also set the alarm duration there.
Requires a heavier power supply
If you connect a wired bell, Ajax recommends 12-24 V DC with 3 A or more, or 16-24 V AC with 10 VA or more.

Do I need to order the BellKit separately for an Ajax DoorBell?
No. Ajax lists the BellKit in the full DoorBell set, so it is in the box. This separate kit is for anyone who needs an extra one or a replacement.
What exactly does the BellKit do?
It sits between the DoorBell and your existing wired bell. Without the kit, the DoorBell cannot control that bell. The wiring diagram is in the Ajax manual.
Do I need to change my power supply?
Often, yes. A wired bell requires more power: Ajax then recommends 12-24 V DC with 3 A or more, or 16-24 V AC with 10 VA or more. You can achieve that with the 12 V adapter of 5 A or the bell transformer. An 8 V bell transformer is too weak for the DoorBell.
I do not have a wired bell. Will I not hear anything?
Yes. The DoorBell can also sound the bell signal through a siren of your Ajax hub, and you always receive a notification and a call in the Ajax app. You do not need the BellKit for that.
Does the BellKit also work with a doorbell from another brand?
The BellKit belongs with the Ajax DoorBell; Ajax describes it only in that combination. What is on the other side is your own wired chime, mechanical or digital.
