Ajax MotionProtect Outdoor: outdoor detector that triggers an alarm before an intruder is inside
A wireless outdoor motion detector that spots a break-in at the facade or in the garden. Two independent infrared sensors and smart software keep the alarm reliable, even in rain, with animals or with moving branches. The batteries are already installed.
The MotionProtect Outdoor uses two PIR sensors and the LISA and SmartDetect algorithms to distinguish a real intruder from a passing animal or falling leaves. You set the range from 3 to 15 metres with a slider on the housing. The housing is IP55 and operates from -25 to +60 °C. This way you receive a notification before anyone is actually inside.

Installation
Installed outdoors in a few minutes
Mount the detector with the supplied SmartBracket at a height of 80 to 130 cm, for example on the facade next to a window or door. Use the supplied screws and wall plugs for a firm fixing. Set the range with the slider on the housing, from 3 to 15 metres, so that you cover exactly the zone you want and leave the street or neighbours outside it. The batteries are already installed, so you pair the MotionProtect Outdoor with your hub in one click via the Ajax app. Do you also want photos on alarm outdoors? Then choose the MotionCam Outdoor.
Placement
Preventing false alarms outdoors
An outdoor detector responds to any movement in its detection zone. Swaying branches and shrubs, washing on the line or a garden furniture cover that billows and flaps in wind and sun can therefore trigger a notification. This is how you keep the number of unwanted alarms low:
Not freely accessible
Aim the detector at a part of your premises that is not freely accessible to third parties, and not at the pavement, the street or the neighbours.
Keep the zone clear
Keep the detection zone free of moving vegetation, hanging laundry and loose objects such as covers and flags.
Correct mounting height
Keep to the recommended mounting height (80 to 130 cm) and set the range and sensitivity appropriately.

Frequently asked questions about the MotionProtect Outdoor
Does it give false alarms because of animals or branches?
Hardly ever. Two independent PIR sensors and the LISA software together assess whether it is a person. Animals up to 80 cm tall, moving branches and rain are ignored.
Can I prevent the street or the neighbours from triggering an alarm?
Yes. With the slider on the housing you set the range from 3 to 15 metres, so that you cover exactly your own property and leave the surroundings outside it alone.
What happens if someone covers the detector?
The MotionProtect Outdoor has anti-masking. If someone tries to cover or paint over the lens, you receive a notification in the Ajax app straight away.
Do I need a subscription?
No. The detector works with your Ajax Hub without a mandatory subscription. Notifications arrive free of charge in the Ajax app.
How long do the batteries last?
Up to five years on the two pre-installed CR123A batteries. The Ajax app warns you well in advance when replacement is needed.
