The StickMount is the elegant way to mount your Ajax DoorProtect, DoorProtect Plus or GlassProtect without screwing. A purpose-designed mounting bracket with strong 3M VHB double-sided tape, already applied. Do you want to stick your Ajax DoorProtect to a plastic frame, in a rented home or in a place where you are not allowed to drill? Then this is the neat solution that still holds the detector firmly in place.
We design and 3D-print the StickMount ourselves in PETG, an impact-resistant plastic. The sleek, low profile is barely noticeable and matches the shape of the detector, so you do not end up with a messy bit of double-sided tape under your DoorProtect but a bracket that looks as if it belongs there. Choose white or black, to match your detector and your frame.
The bond depends on the surface. On a smooth, clean and grease-free surface, the 3M VHB tape reaches its full strength and the detector stays in place for years. On a rough or porous surface, screw mounting remains the better choice. To be honest, the StickMount is the best drill-free solution, not a miracle product that sticks everywhere.

How to stick your DoorProtect firmly in place
First clean the surface thoroughly and remove any grease, preferably with isopropyl alcohol. Then remove the protective film from the double-sided tape, press the bracket into place and hold it firmly pressed for ten seconds. The 3M VHB tape only reaches its full adhesive strength over time, so put as little load as possible on the bracket during the first 24 hours. Work at room temperature, because the tape adheres less well to a cold or damp surface. The tape does not adhere reliably to rough plasterwork, brick, stucco or a dusty surface, so choose screw mounting there.

Frequently asked questions about sticking your DoorProtect
Can I stick my Ajax DoorProtect on without drilling?
Yes. That is exactly what the StickMount is made for. The bracket has strong 3M VHB double-sided tape, so you can stick the DoorProtect to a smooth and clean surface without drilling a hole. On a rough or porous surface, screw mounting remains the better choice.
Which double-sided tape is on the StickMount?
3M VHB, industrial double-sided tape known for its high, long-lasting adhesion. It is considerably stronger than ordinary double-sided tape from a DIY store and is already applied to the bracket.
Is ordinary double-sided tape good enough for the Ajax DoorProtect as well?
Perhaps for a short trial set-up, but not for a permanent installation. Ordinary double-sided tape comes loose over time due to temperature and vibration. The 3M VHB tape on the StickMount is made for this, and the large adhesive surface of the bracket spreads the load.
And the double-sided tape that comes with the DoorProtect as standard?
According to the Ajax installation manual, that tape is only intended to hold the detector in place temporarily during testing, not as a permanent fixing. Otherwise the detector may come loose and fall. The StickMount replaces that temporary tape with industrial 3M VHB on a bracket with a large adhesive surface, so that you install without drilling but still permanently. On a rough surface, screwing remains the better choice.
At what distance and on which side does the magnet go?
You fit the magnet separately on the moving part, on the right-hand side of the DoorProtect, on the side with the marking on the casing and at the same height as the reed contact. The small magnet works up to a distance of 1 cm, the large one up to 2 cm. You place the StickMount itself below the detector.
Which surfaces does it work on?
On smooth, sealed surfaces such as a plastic frame, coated aluminium, painted wood, glass or tile. On rough plasterwork, stucco, brick or a dusty surface, the tape does not bond reliably.
What is the StickMount made of?
We 3D print it ourselves in PETG, an impact-resistant plastic that withstands heat and UV better than PLA. PETG is less brittle than PLA and does not deform as easily, so the bracket keeps its shape even at a sunny window.
Can the bracket be removed again later?
The 3M VHB tape is intended for a long-lasting, firm fixing. It can be removed, but this takes effort and may leave adhesive residue. Choose the location carefully before you stick it on.
