Ajax MotionCam Outdoor: outdoor detector that takes photos on alarm
A wireless outdoor motion detector with a built-in camera. It raises the alarm at the façade or in the garden and immediately sends a series of photos, so that in the Ajax app you can see what is happening outside and know straight away whether the alarm is genuine.
The MotionCam Outdoor combines two PIR sensors with a camera. You set the range with a slider from 3 to 15 metres, and the photos are sent to your hub via the separate, encrypted Wings channel. The camera only switches on in the event of an alarm. Please note: photo verification works with a Hub 2 or Hub 2 Plus.

Installation
Installed outdoors in a few minutes
Mount the detector with the supplied SmartBracket at a height of 80 to 130 cm, for example on the facade next to a window or door. Use the supplied screws and plugs for a secure fixing. Set the range with the slider on the housing, from 3 to 15 metres, so that you cover exactly your own grounds. The supplied weather shield keeps rain off the lens. The batteries are already fitted, so you pair the MotionCam Outdoor with your hub in one click via the Ajax app. Make sure you have a Hub 2 or Hub 2 Plus, because only these process the photos.
Placement
Preventing false alarms outdoors
An outdoor detector responds to any movement in its detection zone. Swaying branches and shrubs, washing on the line or a garden furniture cover that billows and flaps in wind and sun can therefore trigger a notification. This is how you keep the number of unwanted alarms low:
Not freely accessible
Aim the detector at a part of your premises that is not freely accessible to third parties, and not at the pavement, the street or the neighbours.
Keep the zone clear
Keep the detection zone free of moving vegetation, hanging laundry and loose objects such as covers and flags.
Correct mounting height
Keep to the recommended mounting height (80 to 130 cm) and set the range and sensitivity appropriately.
This detector can ignore animals, but only with correct installation and settings. If in doubt, the photo settles the matter immediately. Read how pet immunity works in the Ajax explanation.

Frequently asked questions about the MotionCam Outdoor
Which hub do I need for the photos?
Photo verification works with a Hub 2 or Hub 2 Plus. On older hubs the detector still works as a standard outdoor detector, but you will not receive photos.
Does it give false alarms because of animals or branches?
Hardly at all. Two PIR sensors and the SmartDetect algorithm ignore animals up to 80 cm tall and moving branches. If in doubt, the photo gives you an answer straight away.
Do the photos also work in the dark?
Yes. The MotionCam Outdoor has built-in infrared lighting, so you also get usable photos at night.
Is it rain resistant?
Yes. The housing is IP55 and a weather shield is included that keeps rain off the lens. It operates from -25 to +60 °C.
How long do the batteries last?
Up to three years on the four pre-installed CR123A batteries. The Ajax app warns you well in advance when replacement is needed.
