Ajax Socket: A smart plug for a smart home

Ajax Socket is a wireless smart plug developed by Ajax Systems. The device combines the best of two worlds: automation and security. Through its connection to the Ajax security system via the Jeweller radio protocol, the device supports communication over a distance of up to 1000 metres without the need for Wi-Fi.

A power consumption meter and a load indicator help you monitor the power supply of devices in real time. With automation scenarios, the system can counter threats immediately, so you no longer need to worry about an iron that has not been switched off. Socket is available with a type F plug and a type G plug.

Control devices remotely

With Socket you can control the power supply of electronic devices via Ajax apps, by pressing Button or automatically via a scenario. The system user can be thousands of kilometres from home and still switch devices on and off and keep track of power consumption.

Secure radio communication without Wi-Fi

Socket communicates with an Ajax Hub via the Jeweller radio protocol. Ajax's proprietary technology guarantees uninterrupted two-way communication between the Hub and the smart plug at a distance of up to 1000 m. The radio protocol uses frames to synchronise the communication sessions of the devices, authentication to prevent spoofing and encryption to prevent data theft.

Jeweller does not depend on Wi-Fi and is protected against interference by frequency hopping.

Automation scenarios

Set up automation scenarios in the Ajax apps. Switch on underfloor heating, the central heating boiler and radiators according to a schedule. Switch off electronic equipment when a FireProtect detector raises an alarm. If the premises are protected by outdoor motion detectors, deter intruders with lights that switch on when they cross the premises. Switch off the washing machine when the LeaksProtect detector detects a leak.

Socket works in pulse and bistable modes. The pulse duration of 0.5 to 255 seconds can be adjusted in the Ajax app.

Practical design

The Socket housing is compact and symmetrical, and does not block the adjacent sockets in surge protectors and extension leads. This allows you to use all the outlets at the same time.

If you do not want the LED display lighting on at night, you can switch it off or dim the brightness via the Ajax app. There is a functional button on the Socket type G housing, so you can also operate the plug without the app or Button.

Control over your power consumption

The LED display of the smart plug changes from green to purple, depending on the load. It indicates how much power the device is consuming.

To add Socket to the Ajax security system, plug the device into a socket outlet and scan the QR code with the mobile app.

Electrical safety

The smart plug protects your devices against sudden power surges. In the event of undervoltage or overvoltage, Socket automatically cuts the power supply to devices and electronics. An earthing contact prevents electric shocks. The overheating protection of the device protects against fire. Special covers prevent children from reaching the smart plug and from putting their fingers or other objects into it. They also protect the device against dust and splashes.
