AirShield Outdoor PIR: detect movement outside before anyone is inside
The AirShield Outdoor PIR is a wireless outdoor detector that detects movement around your home or business before anyone reaches a door or window. Ideal for a driveway, garden or rear access.
The detector (Dahua ARD2251E-W2(868)) combines passive infrared with microwave radar, so that it detects accurately with fewer false alarms. With an IP66 housing, anti-masking and tamper monitoring, it performs reliably in rain, cold and heat.
Why the AirShield Outdoor PIR
Dual detection against false alarms
Combines passive infrared with microwave radar. An alarm is only triggered when both detect movement, which greatly reduces false alerts outdoors (where branches, leaves and animals move).
Detection up to 15 m
A detection angle of approximately 90 degrees, designed for low mounting close to the ground (0.8 to 1.3 m) to cover an area such as a driveway or garden path.
Weatherproof and tamper-resistant
An IP66 housing for outdoor use (-25 to +60 degrees), with anti-masking and a tamper contact that report covering, opening or moving.
Expandable with video
Add visual verification later with the separate PIR-Cam Module, or choose the Outdoor PIR-Cam with built-in camera straight away.

Which outdoor detection suits you?
If you only want to detect movement outside, choose the Outdoor PIR. If you also want images, take the Outdoor PIR-Cam with built-in camera. If you already have an Outdoor PIR, you can still add a camera with the separate PIR-Cam Module. If you do not want to monitor an open area but a line along the façade or a window area, choose the curtain detector Outdoor Curtain PIR.

The Outdoor PIR, Outdoor PIR-Cam and Outdoor Curtain PIR work wirelessly on 868 MHz with two-way communication and AES128, and pair with the AirShield hub. The PIR-Cam Module is not a standalone detector: you mount it on an Outdoor PIR and it is powered by that unit.

An immediate notification in the DMSS app
As soon as an outdoor detector is triggered, the AirShield hub sends a push notification to your phone. In the free Dahua DMSS app you can see which detector was triggered and, in the case of a camera, the photo straight away. No subscription, on iPhone and Android.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Outdoor PIR suitable for outdoor use?
Yes. The IP66 housing is dust-tight and waterproof and operates from -25 to +60 degrees, so it withstands rain, cold and heat.
Will the detector react to my pet?
Pet immunity helps limit false alarms caused by animals, but it is not a guarantee. Whether it works depends on weight (up to approximately 40 kg) and height (up to approximately 80 cm), behaviour and above all the mounting height and location. Mount at approximately 0.8 to 1.3 m; large or jumping animals may still trigger an alert.
How does it prevent false alarms outdoors?
Because of the dual detection (PIR plus microwave radar), the detector only triggers when both technologies detect movement. Anti-masking also warns you if someone tries to cover the lens.
Can I add a camera to it?
Yes. Mount the separate PIR-Cam Module on top of the Outdoor PIR to receive photos when an alarm is triggered. If you want video straight away, the Outdoor PIR-Cam with built-in camera is the ready-made choice.
