Ajax FireProtect 2 (Heat): wireless heat detector for kitchens and boiler rooms
Detects heat and sounds the alarm immediately with an 85 dB siren. Works wirelessly with your choice of battery or mains power. Link several detectors so they sound together; with an Ajax hub you also receive the notification on your phone.
The Ajax FireProtect 2 (Heat) is a wireless fire detector that you use on its own or link to your Ajax system. Because this version has no smoke sensor, it does not give a false alarm due to steam or cooking fumes. Ideal for a kitchen, bathroom or boiler room. When ordering, you choose the power supply: replaceable batteries (RB), a sealed battery (SB, up to 10 years) or fixed 230 V mains power (AC).
Why the FireProtect 2
Fast heat detection
Two thermistors trigger an alarm when the temperature rises above 64 °C, and also when it rises by 10 °C within one minute, regardless of how warm it is at that point. This means the detector also responds to fires that produce hardly any smoke.
Built-in 85 dB siren
Each detector has its own siren (85 dB at 3 m). In the event of an alarm you hear it immediately, including at the location of the detector.
Choice: RB, SB or AC
Choose when ordering: replaceable battery (RB, up to 7 years), sealed battery (SB, up to 10 years) or 230 V mains power (AC). The AC version has a larger housing than the battery versions.
Wireless via Jeweller
Wireless connection via Jeweller (866-868 MHz, frequency hopping, up to 1700 m in open field). Links with other detectors and, with an Ajax hub, with the Ajax app.
Standalone or linked
Works standalone with its own siren. Link several detectors so that they sound the alarm together, and add an Ajax hub for notifications in the app and to the alarm receiving centre.
Mounted in 90 seconds
Click the detector onto the SmartBracket without opening the housing. The tamper contact reports opening or removal.

Quick to install
Click the detector onto the supplied SmartBracket. This takes about 90 seconds and does not require opening the housing. A tamper contact warns you as soon as someone opens or detaches the detector. If you use an Ajax hub, add the detector in the Ajax app by scanning the QR code.

All FireProtect 2 detectors at a glance
The FireProtect 2 range differs in three respects: which hazards the detector senses (smoke, heat, carbon monoxide), the power supply (replaceable battery, sealed battery or 230 V mains power) and, as a result, the dimensions. All versions are shown side by side below.
| Model | Smoke | Heat | CO | Power supply | Battery life | Dimensions |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| FireProtect 2 (CO) | No | No | Yes | Choice: RB, SB or AC | Up to 10 years, your choice | RB/SB 86 x 86 x 44 mm, AC 122 x 122 x 54 mm |
| FireProtect 2 (Heat) | No | Yes | No | Choice: RB, SB or AC | Up to 10 years, your choice | RB/SB 86 x 86 x 44 mm, AC 122 x 122 x 54 mm |
| FireProtect 2 (Heat/CO) | No | Yes | Yes | Choice: RB, SB or AC | Up to 10 years, your choice | RB/SB 86 x 86 x 44 mm, AC 122 x 122 x 54 mm |
| FireProtect 2 RB (Heat/Smoke) | Yes | Yes | No | Replaceable battery (RB) | Up to 7 years, replaceable | 124 x 124 x 45 mm |

| FireProtect 2 AC (Heat/Smoke) | Yes | Yes | No | 230 V mains power (AC) | Mains power + backup | 122 x 122 x 54 mm |
| FireProtect 2 AC (Heat/Smoke/CO) | Yes | Yes | Yes | 230 V mains power (AC) | Mains power + backup | 122 x 122 x 54 mm |
Dimensions: there are three housings. With a battery-powered smoke sensor it measures 124 x 124 x 45 mm; without a smoke sensor (Heat, CO, Heat/CO) the detector is considerably smaller at 86 x 86 x 44 mm. Every AC version measures 122 x 122 x 54 mm, because the mains connection is inside the housing. If you replace a battery-powered detector with an AC version, allow for this difference.
Battery life is a figure stated by Ajax under ideal conditions, not a guarantee and not a minimum. How long a battery lasts for you depends on the temperature at the mounting location, the signal strength to the hub, the number of alerts and tests, and the battery itself. You should therefore expect that it may be shorter. The detector and the app warn you when the battery is low. With the RB, you replace the batteries yourself and the detector keeps working; with the SB and AC, the sealed battery cannot be replaced and you replace the whole detector at that point. For smoke detectors, the general advice is in any case to replace them after 10 years at the latest.
You can see prices and stock levels on each product page. The versions without a smoke sensor (Heat, CO, Heat/CO) are intended for rooms where an ordinary smoke detector would cause false alarms, such as a kitchen, boiler room or garage.
Which FireProtect 2 should you choose?
First decide what you want to detect in each room, then choose the power supply that suits the location.
Living room, bedroom, hallway
Here, smoke is the first sign of fire. Choose a Heat/Smoke version, or Heat/Smoke/CO if a combustion appliance is also nearby.
Kitchen, bathroom, boiler room
Steam and vapour cause false alarms with a smoke detector. The Heat version responds to heat only.
Boiler room, garage, near the open fireplace
Wherever a fuel is burned, carbon monoxide is produced. Choose CO or Heat/CO.
Replaceable battery (RB)
Battery you can replace yourself (2x CR123A, up to 7 years according to Ajax). The most frequently chosen version for the home.
Sealed battery (SB)
Built-in battery, up to 10 years according to Ajax. No maintenance required; afterwards you replace the whole detector.
230 V mains power (AC)
Permanently connected to the mains with sealed backup. For new builds or projects where cabling is mandatory. Every AC version measures 122 x 122 x 54 mm, regardless of the sensor set: for the smoke detectors it is 9 mm thicker, for the versions without a smoke sensor considerably larger. Conceal the cable with the CableTrunk.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need an Ajax hub for this?
Not necessarily. The detectors also work standalone: each detector has its own 85 dB siren and you can interconnect several detectors so that they raise the alarm together. If you want notifications on your phone via the Ajax app or signalling to an alarm receiving centre, you need an Ajax hub. We recommend at least a Hub 2: installation and configuration are simpler and you receive the notifications neatly in the app.
How long does the battery last?
That depends on your choice: Ajax states up to 7 years for RB (replaceable) and up to 10 years for SB (sealed); AC runs on mains power with a sealed backup. That figure is an upper limit that Ajax measures under ideal conditions, not a minimum and not a guarantee: temperature, signal strength to the hub and the number of alerts and tests make it shorter in practice. The detector and the app warn you when the battery is low, so you will not be caught off guard.
How large is this detector?
That depends on the power supply you choose. On battery (RB and SB) this version measures 86 x 86 x 44 mm, so considerably smaller than the smoke detectors in the range. If you choose AC with mains power, the housing is 122 x 122 x 54 mm, because the mains connection is built in.
Does it also warn the other detectors in the house?
Yes. You can interconnect several detectors, so that the alarm from one detector sets off the sirens of all the others. This also works without a hub. With an Ajax hub, you also receive a notification in the app within 20 seconds.
Is this a certified fire detector?
This version only detects heat and is CE marked (RED, EMC, LVD). For EN 54 certified installations, use the Ajax EN54 Line.
