ASC2204C-S access controller for 4 doors
The ASC2204C-S is a Dahua access controller for 4 doors (one-way). The controller is the core of the access system: the card readers and door locks connect to it, and the controller determines who may open which door, and when. It connects to the network via TCP/IP and can be managed with DSS Pro or SmartPSS Lite. This version controls 4 doors one-way; the same controller in a two-way version for 2 doors is the ASC2202C-D.
This controller and the other version
Both versions are the same controller with the same capacity and connections. They differ in the door layout:
| Type | Doors | Readers | Power supply |
|---|---|---|---|
| ASC2202C-D | 2 doors (two-way) | 4 | 100-240 V AC |
| ASC2204C-S (this one) | 4 doors (one-way) | 4 | 100-240 V AC |
What this controller does
- Controls 4 doors (one-way); card readers connect via RS-485 and Wiegand
- Determines per person and per time period who may open which door; supports interlock, anti-passback and unlocking with multiple people
- Alarm for a tampered reader, a break-in or a door held open for too long
- Network via TCP/IP, manageable with DSS Pro or SmartPSS Lite; powered via 100-240 V AC
- Built-in clock and memory that is retained during a power failure; surface mounting

Frequently asked questions
What exactly does an access controller do?
The controller is the brain behind the door. The card readers and door locks connect to it; the controller checks the card or code, decides whether the door may open and operates the lock. It also records who went in and when.
Is a reader included, or do I need to buy one separately?
A reader is not included: you choose it separately and connect it via RS-485 or Wiegand. The ASR card readers in this category are compatible. Tell us about your situation and we will put together the right combination.
How many doors can I connect to this?
This version is for 4 doors (one-way). If you need more, you can use several controllers on the network or choose a larger one. Call or email us and we will work it out with you.
How is the controller powered?
Mains powered (100-240 V AC); the controller has a built-in power supply.
What do I use to manage users and permissions?
To manage cards, people and permissions, you use Dahua's free software: SmartPSS Lite for a small installation, DSS Pro for larger ones.
Where do I mount the controller?
In a locked room within the secured zone, with surface mounting. Keep the reader cabling separate from mains power.
