Xinghan Vision is the AI chip that Dahua builds into its newest cameras and recorders. The analysis therefore runs in the device itself: the camera recognises people and vehicles, filters out movement from branches and shadows, and delivers footage that you can search in a targeted way later. Secures.nl now lists 153 products with Xinghan Vision, spread over three camera lines and the NVR5 recorders. In this article you can read what the chip does, which series contain it and when it is worth the effort.
What Xinghan stands for
Analysis in the device
The camera assesses the image itself, no server or subscription is needed.
People and vehicles separately
Notifications concern people and vehicles, not every moving branch.
Smart Dual Light
The camera chooses between infrared and white light by itself, depending on the situation.
Targeted searching of recordings
The NVR5 recorders with Xinghan have WizSeek, with which you search footage by description.
What exactly is Xinghan Vision?
Xinghan Vision is the name of the AI platform in the new generation of Dahua equipment. Where an ordinary camera only passes on the image, image analysis runs on this chip in the device itself. This has two practical consequences. Your notifications become more useful, because the system distinguishes between a person, a vehicle and movement that does not matter. And your recordings become searchable, because the camera also records what can be seen in the image. On your phone or on the recorder you then no longer need to scroll through a whole night of footage.

And in the recorder?
Dahua uses the same chip in the NVR5 series with the suffix XI/Pro. These recorders perform the analysis themselves, so even cameras without their own AI gain smart functions. The NVR5208-8P-XI/Pro records footage from eight IP cameras, provides eight PoE ports with ePoE, outputs 8K via HDMI and works with cameras of up to 32 megapixels. WizSeek is useful in practice: you describe what you are looking for and the recorder retrieves the matching clips, instead of you going through hours of footage yourself.
Do you need Xinghan?
For a shed or driveway with two cameras, an entry-level model is often enough. Xinghan starts to pay off as soon as you are troubled by false alerts, as soon as you really need to be able to search back through footage, or as soon as something is at stake where you want to be able to recognise a person rather than only see that there was movement. A mixed set-up is also possible: start with a Xinghan recorder and add cameras as you expand.
