Good to know
Channels, storage and expansion
The number of channels is the number of cameras the recorder records at the same time. Count your current cameras and leave some room: with 128 channels you can connect up to 128, but it is sensible to allow some margin for later.
Many NVRs of this size have built-in PoE ports, so each camera receives power and video over the same network cable. If there are more cameras than PoE ports, you add a PoE switch.
The storage determines how far back you can review footage; more cameras or a higher resolution require more disk space. For which series and intelligence suit your cameras, read the page on Dahua series and model codes.
Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions about the 128-channel NVR
How many cameras can I connect?
Up to 128 cameras at the same time. If you currently have fewer, that is fine; keep the margin for future expansion.
Can I connect more than 128 cameras later?
No, 128 channels is the maximum of this recorder. If you want to grow further later, choose a model with more channels now, or view all NVR recorders.
Does it have PoE?
Many NVRs have built-in PoE ports, so you only need to run one cable per camera. Check the number of PoE ports per model; if you need more, use a PoE switch.
