Ajax Hub 2, Superior Hub G3, Hub Hybrid and EN54 Fire Hub side by side at actual size

Comparing Ajax hubs: the situation in 2026

The hub is the heart of your Ajax alarm system: it connects all your detectors, reports alarms and keeps in contact with the app and the alarm receiving centre. Ajax has several hubs, from a compact entry-level model to a top model for large premises. Below you can compare them quickly and choose the hub that suits your situation.

Quick choice

Which Ajax hub suits you?

House or flat

The logical choice for most homes: photo verification and 4G back-up. Choose the Hub 2 (4G).

Entry-level or new installation

Compact and affordable, with 4G backup. Without photo verification. Choose the Hub (4G).

Large or complex premises

Highest capacity and four communication channels working in parallel. Choose the Hub 2 Plus.

Fire detection (EN54)

Certified EN54 fire alarm control panel with a 10.1-inch touchscreen. Choose the Fire Hub.

Camera limits, signal extenders and automation scenarios for each model are listed on the product pages themselves. 2G is being phased out in the Netherlands; every hub continues to work fully via Ethernet, and for long-term mobile back-up you choose a 4G model.

For most homes

Ajax Hub 2 (2G and 4G)

The Ajax Hub 2 is the wireless alarm control panel with photo verification (MotionCam): when an alarm is triggered, you receive photos on your phone straight away. There are two variants, which differ only in the mobile connection.

Flagship model

Ajax Hub 2 Plus (4G)

The wireless flagship model with four communication channels working in parallel, the highest capacity and a faster processor. For large or complex installations where redundancy matters.

Entry-level model

Ajax Hub (4G) and Hub (2G)

The Ajax Hub is the compact entry-level model: fast alarm notifications via Ethernet with mobile back-up. It has no photo verification; for that, choose a Hub 2. For new installations, we recommend the Hub (4G).

Ajax Hub (4G)
ConnectionEthernet + 4G/2G (1 micro-SIM)
Photo verificationNo
CapacityUp to 100 devices, 50 users, 9 groups
System typeWireless (Jeweller)

The Hub (2G) has the same design with a 2G SIM card instead of 4G. Because 2G is being phased out, the Hub (4G) is the better choice for new installations. The older Ajax Hub Plus is no longer available separately; for a comparable or more extensive system, look at the Hub 2 or the Hub 2 Plus.

Fire detection

Ajax Fire Hub (EN54)

The Fire Hub is not an intruder alarm control panel but an addressable, wireless fire alarm control panel with a 10.1-inch touchscreen. It is the core of the EN54 range, to which all fire detectors, sirens and manual call points are connected.

Ajax for projects

Superior and hybrid hubs (on request)

For larger projects and wired installations, Ajax has the Superior line, which includes the Superior Hub G3 Jeweller, the Superior MegaHub and the hybrid hubs (Superior Hub Hybrid and Superior Hub Hybrid 2) that control both wired Fibra and wireless Jeweller devices.

We supply these professional lines on request, but we do not sell them through the webshop, and the end user does not install them themselves. If you want to know whether a Superior or hybrid hub suits your project, please contact us for advice and a tailored quotation.

Questions

Frequently asked questions about Ajax hubs

Which Ajax hub should I choose?

For most homes the Hub 2 (4G) is the logical choice: photo verification plus 4G back-up. If you want something more compact and without photo verification, the Hub (4G) is sufficient. For a large or complex building, choose the Hub 2 Plus. For fire detection you need the EN54 Fire Hub, and for projects or wired installations the Superior line is available on request.

What is the difference between the Hub 2 and the Hub 2 Plus?

The Hub 2 Plus has a higher capacity (up to 200 devices, 200 users and 25 groups compared with 100 devices and 50 users), an additional communication channel via Wi-Fi and a faster processor. Both support photo verification via the MotionCam.

Which hubs support photo verification (MotionCam)?

The Hub 2 (2G), the Hub 2 (4G) and the Hub 2 Plus support photo verification with the Ajax MotionCam. The Hub (2G) and the Hub (4G) do not; choose a Hub 2 for that.

Does 2G still work?

2G is slowly being phased out in the Netherlands. Every hub continues to work fully via Ethernet. If you want mobile back-up for the long term, choose a 4G model such as the Hub (4G) or the Hub 2 (4G).

Do I need a SIM card?

A SIM card provides mobile back-up in case your fixed internet connection fails. For this we offer the Ajax Sim and the Ajax M2M SIM card. Without a SIM card, the hub simply continues to work via Ethernet.

Can I get a Superior or Hub Hybrid?

Yes, we supply the Ajax Superior and hybrid hubs on request. They are not in the webshop. Please contact us or read more about Ajax Superior.
