Ajax Hub 2 (4G) now available

The control panel for the Hub 2 with photo verification support is now available in two versions. Complementing the Hub 2 (2G), which supports communication over a second-generation mobile network, Ajax Systems is releasing Hub 2 (4G): a model that supports 2G/3G/4G (LTE).

The mobile module is the only difference between these hubs. They do not replace each other and are sold separately. The new Hub 2 (4G) model can now be ordered from Secures.

Global situation of 2G networks

Supporting 2G networks is no longer commercially viable for mobile operators, as new devices mainly use 3G and 4G. Germany, the Czech Republic, Norway and Switzerland had already fully switched off 2G in 2021.

The Hub 2 (2G) control panel is suitable for regions where 2G networks are still active, providing a stable connection. However, it is better to have options in other countries, which is why Ajax offers an alternative: Hub 2 (4G).

What is the difference?

The two hubs differ only in their modem versions. Hub 2 (4G) uses 2G/3G/4G (LTE) networks, whereas Hub 2 (2G) is suitable for 2G networks only. Other specifications, such as the number of scenarios and users or the number of groups and supported cameras, remain unchanged.

Both hub models have the same identical housing. The only way to tell them apart is to check the markings on the packaging and the sticker.

How to transfer data from an old hub to Hub 2 (4G)

If you are using an older Hub, all settings, connected devices, scenarios and users can be transferred to a new hub thanks to the data import function (Data Import).

You can transfer data from the old Hub or Hub 2 to the new Hub 2 (2G) / Hub 2 (4G). The process runs automatically. No programming knowledge is needed, everything is handled in the Ajax app and it takes 5 minutes.

If a Hub Plus is installed in a building and 4G support is required, you can replace it with a Hub 2 Plus.
