Ajax Systems announces the new FireProtect 2 product line and unveils the first release with seven fire detector models. The redesigned detectors include a patented smoke chamber that is 100% dust-free and impenetrable to insects, thermistors that ensure fast detection of temperature spikes, long battery life and many related hardware and software improvements.
Thanks to the wide use of the FireProtect detectors, we have gathered very valuable experience in fire safety. And what do we see? We see over-regulated and slow markets. We see players who have not dared to change their products over the years. We see how professionals work with outdated equipment and how users receive minimal fire protection and the same minimal provisions. We have accepted the challenge and devoted a year to developing a fire safety project for the Ajax system.

The first release complies with the requirements of EN 14604:2005/AC:2008, EN 50291-1:2018 and Q-Mark, and fully meets the needs of the EU market for fire safety in homes, which grows by € 80 million every year. This is where Ajax can offer added value: detectors with built-in batteries for homes in the Netherlands and Germany, and detectors with carbon monoxide sensors in the Scandinavian countries, where many people heat their homes with gas and other fuels. And many more options for installers of fire detection systems worldwide.
Detectors for every task
The FireProtect 2 product line has detectors with two types of housing. Depending on their size, they are fitted with different sensor combinations. Detectors with a larger housing have a smoke chamber and a temperature sensor, and the advanced version also has a CO sensor. The smaller ones have no smoke chamber and have a maximum of two sensors: a single temperature sensor, a single CO sensor or both "under the housing".
The detectors have different battery options. The RB models have replaceable batteries that last up to 7 years, and the SB models run for up to 10 years on built-in batteries (these cannot be replaced, so the detector must be replaced entirely).

Future-proof hardware
A dedicated team of developers spent a year reaching a completely new technological level for fire safety in homes with FireProtect 2. They fitted the detectors with a unique, patented smoke chamber that is 100% dust-free and impenetrable to insects. You do not need to clean it regularly. In the smoke chamber, FireProtect 2 has a dual-spectrum optical sensor that can distinguish smoke from steam, thanks to the blue and infrared LEDs.
Even if dust does get into the smoke chamber, it does not affect detection. The optical system is designed so that dirt, dust and insects cannot be in two beams at the same time and thereby cause an alarm. In addition, our renewed HazeFlow 2 software algorithm processes the data received from the sensors, which reduces the risk of false alarms to almost zero.
The detectors are fitted with two thermistors so that a temperature spike can be identified quickly. This gives a considerable advantage when synthetic materials are on fire. Thanks to the smoke and temperature sensors, FireProtect 2 is therefore ready to detect a fire as quickly as possible, even when it cannot yet be seen.
The extended version, with an additional carbon monoxide sensor, detects CO concentrations at a level of 50 ppm. And the built-in 85 dB sounder warns of a high CO level with a different sound. This makes the type of danger clear immediately.
With years of operation on replaceable or built-in batteries, the FireProtect 2 hardware guarantees accurate and robust fire safety.
Improved housing for easy installation
The new detectors have adopted all the characteristic features of Ajax and received a few notable improvements. You no longer need to take the detector apart during installation. With the improved SmartBracket mounting panel, an installer can mount the detector with ease and level it in 90-degree corners. Given the square shape of the detector, it is a true perfectionist's dream.
The button on the housing for silencing/testing the alarm has also become large and mechanical. Users can press it quickly, even with a mop. On the housing, three LED indicators show an alarm, a fault and normal operation of the detector.
The detectors have tamper buttons on the panel and the smoke chamber. Removing the detector triggers an immediate push notification to users' smartphones, and an event is sent to the alarm receiving centre of the security company.
Technologies that save lives
The FireProtect 2 detectors use proven security technologies. The Jeweller radio protocol provides secure, encrypted communication with a hub over a distance of up to 1700 metres without a range extender. And twice that distance with a range extender.
Regardless of distance, communication is robust and direct. Alarms are sent immediately to all users and to the alarm receiving centre to which the system is connected. If one detector raises a fire alarm, the other fire detectors on site can activate their built-in sounders within 20 seconds, which is three times faster than the standard requires. Missing a fire alarm is impossible, especially with the Ajax app.
The Ajax apps offer the best user experience in fire safety for installers and users. You can pair the detectors with a system via a QR code and configure them in the app. All detector information is available in real time when there is an internet connection, and notifications are delivered via push notifications, text messages or calls.

In the event of an alarm, the MotionCam (PhOD) or MotionCam Outdoor (PhOD) motion detector can take a photo and send it for visual verification, which provides yet another layer of protection against false alarms.
