What does outdoor detection offer?

A classic alarm only responds when someone is already inside. Outdoor detection reverses this: the alert comes the moment someone walks onto your property or stands at the façade. This gives valuable extra response time and, together with an outdoor siren, is often enough to make someone leave before anything has been forced. Especially with detached homes, business premises and plots with a shed or workshop, the difference is large: you would rather prevent damage to doors and frames than insure against it.

Does that work reliably with wind, rain and animals?

Outdoors, the environment is less stable than indoors: sun on a fence, a moving bush, a cat crossing the garden. For this reason the AirShield outdoor detectors combine two sensor technologies. The infrared sensor detects heat, the microwave radar detects actual movement; an alarm only follows when both detect an intruder. Animals up to approx. 40 kg are ignored, provided the detector is positioned correctly. A false alarm outdoors can never be ruled out entirely, but with the right mounting height and viewing direction the number of unnecessary alarms remains limited in practice. And with the PIR-Cam variant you check every alert within seconds using the photo.

Does the signal also reach the shed or garage?

AirShield operates on the 868 MHz band, which penetrates walls well, with a range of up to 2,000 metres in open field. A detector on a carport, garage or shed will therefore usually stay within range of the hub in your house. If an outbuilding is really far away, you place an AirShield Repeater: it extends the range by up to 1,600 metres of open field, supports up to 128 accessories and has its own battery that provides up to 35 hours of standby during a power failure.

Combining outdoor detection with cameras

AirShield is deeply integrated with Dahua cameras. If an outdoor detector is triggered, the system immediately retrieves the live image from the linked camera in the DMSS app. Conversely, a Dahua camera with WizSense AI (person and vehicle recognition) can trigger the alarm itself, for example when a line is crossed on the driveway. In this way alarm and video reinforce each other, from one ecosystem and in one app, without a mandatory subscription.
