Smart wireless alarm that works together with your cameras
AirShield is Dahua’s wireless intruder protection: quick to install, with a stable connection and long battery life. Via Dahua Cloud you manage everything easily, and thanks to the deep integration with Dahua cameras and video intercom, alarm and video reinforce each other. You control everything in the free DMSS app, without a mandatory subscription.
Advanced RF communication
The basis of a reliable wireless alarm is the radio link between the hub and the detectors. For this, AirShield uses the 868 MHz band, with techniques that extend the range, secure the connection and counter interference.
AirShield operates on the 868 MHz band. This low frequency penetrates walls, floors and ceilings better than the 2.4 GHz used by many wifi devices, with a range of up to 2,000 metres in open field.
As a result, you maintain a stable connection even in a large house, an outbuilding, a cellar or a shed, usually without additional signal boosters. Fewer repeaters mean a simpler installation and less maintenance.
A PIR-Cam takes photos immediately when it detects movement, which arrive quickly and wirelessly at the hub and in the DMSS app. Within a few seconds you have images to assess a notification.
This makes visual verification practical: you can see straight away whether it is a false alarm or whether something is really happening, without going to the site.
The hub supports two-way voice communication via an intercom siren. You can listen in remotely and speak during an event.
Useful for speaking to a visitor, deterring someone or assessing a situation, directly from the app.
The system automatically hops between frequencies within the 868 MHz band. This keeps the connection stable, even if there is noise or interference on a channel.
Frequency hopping also makes it considerably harder to block the signal deliberately (jamming), which increases the reliability of your security.
All wireless communication is AES128 encrypted, with keys that change dynamically. Nobody can read the traffic.
This also prevents a replay attack, in which a previously intercepted signal is played back again to bypass the alarm.
The Hub and the detector confirm each other's messages in both directions. Every notification is guaranteed to arrive and the system always knows the status of each device.
This two-way connection is also economical, which extends battery life, and immediately reports tampering, a weak battery or a device going offline.
Integration with cameras and video intercom
AirShield does not stand alone. It works together with the wide range of Dahua cameras and video intercoms, so that alarm and video reinforce each other. From bullet, turret and dome cameras to PTZ, WizSense AI and number plate recognition (ANPR), and from door stations (VTO) to indoor monitors (VTH): you connect exactly what suits your home or business. Because everything comes from a single Dahua ecosystem, you lower the cost of a complete system and keep management clear in one app.
If a detector is triggered, the system immediately brings up the image from the linked Dahua camera. In the DMSS app you can see straight away what is going on.
You assess an alert on the basis of live or recorded footage instead of just a siren, and so know whether action is needed. This reduces false call-outs and gives peace of mind.
Conversely, a camera can trigger the alarm. If a Dahua camera detects a line crossing or a person in a zone, for example, AirShield responds as well.
With Dahua's WizSense AI (person and vehicle recognition) you reduce false alarms caused by, for example, animals or moving foliage, and you respond more precisely to what really matters.
When you arm or disarm the alarm, the linked devices follow in the same action. No separate systems that you have to operate individually.
Everything runs through one app and one account, so your home or business is set to the right mode with one press of a button, at home or on the move.
A Dahua indoor station (VTH) of your video intercom can operate the alarm. You arm and disarm from the screen at the front door.
This way you do not need to mount a separate keypad, and you combine doorbell, live video and alarm at one central point in the home, with fewer separate devices on the wall.
Cloud Update: your entire system keeps growing
This is one of the strongest points of AirShield. Not only the hub, but every connected device, from motion detector and magnetic contact to keypad, siren and PIR-Cam, receives new firmware remotely. With a tap in the app you update the entire system and unlock new features and improvements, without replacing anything. This keeps your alarm system up to date and secure for years, and it grows with new possibilities.
Over-the-air (OTA) updates work entirely wirelessly and remotely. You do not need to connect a cable or remove any devices.
The hub distributes the new firmware to all connected devices, so that not only the control panel but your entire system is updated in one go. New features and security improvements reach you automatically, year after year.
AirShield automatically adjusts the transmission rate to the quality of the signal. Where a system with a fixed rate stalls at around 90% transmission success, AirShield aims for close to 100%.
As a result, even in difficult locations or during a firmware update, messages arrive reliably, without any notification being lost.
Every device runs on two firmware systems: an active one and a backup. If an update should fail, the device automatically falls back to the working version.
This way, an update can never render your devices unusable. That makes wireless remote updating not only convenient, but also truly safe.
AP Mode, network redundancy and open API
AP Mode (Access Point)
Network set-up without hassle: during installation, the hub sets up its own Wi-Fi access point. You connect to it directly to carry out the initial configuration, even if no network or internet connection is available yet.
Multiple network redundancy
Wired internet, wifi and 4G complement each other. If one connection drops, another takes over, so your system always stays online and notifications get through.
Open IoT API
Integrators connect AirShield to their own cloud, PC software or app via the Open IoT API, independently of the DMSS or DoLynk app. Ideal for custom work and OEM integrations; development is possible via Dahua's DoLynk development platform.

Everything about Dahua AirShield
What is Dahua AirShield?
AirShield is Dahua's wireless intruder protection. A hub forms the heart of the system and monitors wireless detectors such as motion detectors, magnetic contacts and sirens. You manage everything in the free DMSS app and can easily expand the system.
Do I need a subscription?
No. You operate and manage AirShield free of charge in the DMSS app, without a mandatory subscription. If you want 24-hour response by an alarm receiving centre, you take out a separate service for that.
Can I install AirShield myself?
Yes. Because the system is wireless, you simply mount the detectors and enrol them via the app, with no need for chasing walls or breaking up floors. Prefer to have it fitted? Our VEB-certified installers install and configure everything for you.
What is included in an AirShield starter kit?
A kit contains the hub, a wireless magnetic contact for a door or window, a motion detector and a key fob for arming and disarming. In the PIR-Cam kit, the motion detector is a variant with a camera that takes photos when an alarm is triggered.
Which hub suits me: Hub 2 or 4G Hub 2?
Both hubs are identical in terms of security and capabilities. The Hub 2 works via Wi-Fi and a network cable; the 4G Hub 2 also has a mobile back-up, so the system keeps working if your internet fails.
What is the advantage of a 4G hub?
If the internet connection fails, the hub switches to the 4G mobile network, so your notifications keep coming in. Recommended if your security must not go down.
Does AirShield work with cameras?
Yes. AirShield is deeply integrated with Dahua cameras and video intercoms. You can connect bullet, turret, dome and PTZ cameras or a door station, so that alarm and video reinforce each other.
What is video verification and why is it useful?
When a notification comes in, you get images straight away: PIR-Cam detectors take photos and linked IP cameras show live video in the app. This way you can see immediately whether it is a false alarm or a genuine one, and you avoid unnecessary call-outs.
How large is the wireless range?
AirShield operates on the 868 MHz band, which penetrates walls and floors well, with a range of up to 2,000 metres in open field. This way you keep a stable connection even in a large building or outbuilding.
How secure is the wireless connection?
Communication is AES128 encrypted with changing keys and uses frequency hopping against interference and jamming. Thanks to two-way communication, the hub immediately detects tampering or an offline device.
How long do the batteries last?
The detectors run for years on their battery, depending on use. The hub has a built-in backup battery that keeps the system active for up to 12 hours in the event of a power failure.
Can I expand the system later?
Yes. You can connect up to 150 wireless devices to a single hub. Start small and add extra detectors, sirens, keypads or cameras later as your requirements grow.
Will my system receive firmware updates?
Yes. Through cloud updates (OTA) you can remotely update not only the hub, but every connected device. This keeps your system up to date for years and gives you new features without replacing hardware.
Can I connect AirShield to an alarm receiving centre?
Yes. AirShield is suitable for professional response via an alarm receiving centre (ARC). This means that in the event of an alarm, someone can monitor and take action 24/7.
What happens in the event of a power or internet failure?
The built-in backup battery keeps the hub active for up to 12 hours in the event of a power failure. With a 4G model, the mobile network takes over if the internet goes down, so your property stays protected.
