Good to know
Channels, storage and expansion
The number of channels is the number of cameras the recorder records at the same time. Count your current cameras and leave some room: with 16 channels you can connect up to 16, but it is sensible to allow some margin for later.
An XVR connects your cameras over coax cable, with a separate power lead per camera. Useful if coax cabling from an older system is already in place.
The storage determines how far back you can review footage; more cameras or a higher resolution require more disk space. For which series and intelligence suit your cameras, read the page on Dahua series and model codes.
Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions about the 16-channel XVR
How many cameras can I connect?
Up to 16 cameras at the same time. If you have fewer now, that is fine; keep the margin for future expansion.
Can I connect more than 16 cameras later?
No, 16 channels is the maximum of this recorder. If you want to grow further later, choose a model with more channels now, or view all XVR recorders.
Does this work with my existing coax?
Yes, that is precisely the advantage of an XVR: if coax cable from an older system is already in place, you can reuse it and replace only the cameras and the recorder.
